They will only keep 2. They are entertaining trade offers for Asante Samuel.

There is no way in hell they can tie that kind of cash up in 3 elite CB's.

I shall say 2 and a half. Samuel i thought benefitted greatly playing in Belichick's

system. I think he has been less than stellar his during his stint with the eagles

which is why they have upgraded with Namdi and Rogers-Cromartie.

Didn't he miss a portion of the season last year. I thought he did and seemed ineffective

when he came back. I know he had a fairly good 2009 season but i thought he fell off

just a bit last season.

3 Pro Bowl-caliber cover corners atone for a multitude of sins on both sides of the ball. There is a great case to be made for keeping him but as you say, there are a lot of teams in need of a corner like Samuel.

The NFL is shopping an eight-game Thursday primetime TV package, with commissioner Roger Goodell having informal conversations with networks last week, according to the Sports Business Journal, which is reporting that a stake in the league's NFL Network might be in play for the winning bidder. The talks are expected to gain momentum now that the league-imposed lockout is over. The NFL Network currently has rights to eight late-season Thursday NFL games; the new package will cover the early season. The SBJ says Turner and Comcast would be front-runners, especially since they have cut previous deals that included league-owned assets (Turner pacted with the NBA in 2007; Comcast has a similar deal with the NHL). Fox and ESPN also are expected to be interested in the package. ...

Osi had something to say about Giants front office.

"What really annoys me is the hypocrisy of people clamoring for my head for asking for a new deal or to be traded," Umenyiora wrote in the email to The AP. "Saying I have 2 years left on my deal. These contracts only mean something to us? Where is O'Hara? Where is Seubert? True inspirational football players.

"They were cut after being injured," he said. "They have years left on their deal. Why is Jacobs asked to take a pay cut? He has years left on his deal. The fact is in the business we are in, if you get injured, or they feel like you underperformed, they cut you without hesitation. But if you clearly outplay your contract, and ask for something to be done, you're a bad guy and not a team player. It's ridiculous."

Osi telling it like it is. That's why I never get upset when football players hold out. It's the unfortunate truth about their cold-blooded business. Just look at Jerricho Cotchery. He's been nothing but a good soldier for the Jets - never complained, just went out and made big plays. Now, because they're concerned about his injury problems, he gets dumped in favor of 37-year-old Derrick Mason.

Giants fan here and I agree with Osi. HOWEVER, the owners hold most, if not all the cards. I believe if Osi sits out he won't get paid - which would defeat his purpose - which is to get more money.

Earlier in the week Osi had been given the go ahead to seek a trade. But I think as of earlier this afternoon the Giants have pulled that off the table. So he's stuck. He has a contract and will have to honor it, unless the Giants decide out of the kindness of their hearts to give him the money he deserves.

Osi feels he's been lied to and in combo with how much other leading DEs are getting, he believes he should be equally compensated.

If that's true it's unfortunate. However, Osi is scheduled to make 7 million dollars over the next 2 seasons I believe. It's really hard to feel TOO bad for him based on that. But, I do agree he deserves to make more.

I'm not sold on the idea yet. We've been looking for a superhero fix for the Niners for quite a while now and I definitely don't think he's that. There's also a lot of chatter about how he didn't really do much of anything at Stanford except take credit for what his assistant coaches and players did (he didn't even recruit much, which is evidently somewhat standard there because of the academic standards). I hope he gets a chance at least as long as Singletary, but I don't see good things in his future if we don't make the playoffs this season (which should have happened last year). The new stadium plans moving forward is going to make his job even more difficult.

The guy has never impressed me as a coach or a player. I wish u guys luck though as it is going 2 be a l o n g season 4 me.
