Gardening Thread Pt 2

The other one seems to have lock itself down.

Let's carry on! woot!

The lettuces are even bigger now and should be ready to harvest in another week or so. woot!

Beans are a-comin'

[img:$uid]http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i9/jgascot/IMAG0144.jpg[/img:$uid]

Not sure what's gonna be with the broccoli. I read in my trusty veggie gardening book that once yellow blooms start to show you need to clip it because it will turn. At least one of the broccoli's are starting to show some yellow blooms and they're still not much larger than in this pic. sad

I don't know if it has to do with maybe I should've planted them when it was still way colder outside. They were the first thing I put in the bed once I set it up and saw the garden center put out veggies. A lesson learned for next season. geek

Imma snip the top ones off and see if the secondary ones do any better.

John, have you tried square foot gardening?

THere are all sorts of resources on it.

Supposedly, you can square foot garden with no need for pesticides, etc.

I'm telling you, cilantro is a pain in the ass to grow! I decided to wait a few more weeks before buying my seedlings because the weather was colder last week and I don't want to have to keep everything inside until the weather is consistently warm.

I just can't grow anything from seeds... well my ornamental peppers are doing well. whew but that's it.

I'm better off planting young plants and working it from there... the larger baby plants can take the 30 degree nights.

my bergonias may live. woot! its been so cold here... it was too early to plant outside. You're right. nod f-ing cilantro! damn spearamint seedlings! mad

So far everything I've planted is doing well. I planted my tomato plants today. I have so much more to plant but we've had so much rain and more to come.

Damn gangster sparrows....they are shredding my wormwood plants!!!! Those plants were all beautifully shaped and growing perfect and those birds are just ripping the plants to shreds.

Had a few frosty nights, but my herbs are all alive, but my pepper plant keeps debating death.

Other than that...a lot of beautiful stuff going on. My butterfly bush is taking off wonderfully.

Cilantro likes it hot.

Last summer was one of the hottest on record in NYC and my cilantro definitely did not like it hot.
