If your house was burning, what would you take with you

for me:

kids, dog

my 2 external hard drives

photo albums

passports

that's all I think hmmm we don't have anything valuable that can't be replaced

House around the corner burned down last month, the owners lost EVERYTHING cry

I was just thinking about this yesterday. Our neighbours that are attached to us are having an extention done. The neighbours are away on holiday and the plumbers have been in doing some work. I smelled something burning and they had left the house a bit earlier. Being attached, sharing half of our house scares me when I think about fires. Luckily our neighbours seem responsible but you never know when something might happen.

I ran through a list of things I would try to grab.

Son

Box with important papers and passports.

Handbag if I have the time

I guess that is about it. I know hubby will grab the hard drive first.

Right now most of our possessions are packed. If we had to the time we would grab our large wooden crate full of artwork.

My dogs.. I know that my mom would grab all the important paperwork and passports, stuff like that. She'd also probably take the family plates.

But also..

-my black covers I've had my whole life

-my grandparents' pendant

-my journals

-my comp & cellphone

-old childhood things

-family albums

-all my books, but there's a whole damn box so... in my dreams sad

-Quran

gaaahhh I wouldn't have the time though. At quick grab I would probably only take my dogs, comp, cellphone and Quran. razz

I probably wouldn't be able to survive without all my stuff, dammit.

My dogs and my computer. Then if I had time, my record collection. That'd take a lot of time and money to replace..

I think that we can all assume "any human beings in the house" is an automatic FIRST for us all (well, I'd have to think twice about a certain-someone personally), but anyway...

- photos

- birth certificates

- comic books/vinyl records

- hard drive

I actually own a fireproof, waterproof safe (little one) where we're supposed to keep all of our important papers (birth certificates, deed to house, baptismal records, etc.) but we've been careless and just the other day I found some important documents laying around.

Apart from things like computer, wallet or documensts a necklace that has a special meaning to me and of course my penguins, but I guess that would take way too long, so I guess I would burn with them.

Aside from my family, including our cat, I suppose I'd grab my laptop, wallet and wife's car keys. Those are pretty essential in our lives.

In reality tho would all of those things be to hand? ( i best put mine all together in case)

Me, my son and get the cats out! close all the doors.

I always sleep with all the doors closed in the house, especially the bathroom as its closest to us and has a fire source! it can be a life saver!

Give what U can, all U can stand, and all of your life will be made!

If I had the chance I'd grab my laptop/external drive, but I doubt I'd have the frame of mind.

-My rare Prince things

-My laptop (which is always ready to go)

-My Nike bag (has the wallet, phone, Ipods etc in it)

-My case of naughty goods (I am not leaving my vibrators to burn, they have

worked so hard on my behalf and ask nothing in return lol )

This is of course AFTER I open a window and toss out my boot/heel

collection.

I would grab:

My three cats (of course).

My CD collection (I spent so much time and money on the CDs that I have, that I would hate to see them burn).

My collection of Prince songbooks (some of the ones I have are no longer in print).

My computer I'm not worried about. It runs slower than molasses anyway, and I probably would just wind up replacing it with a newer, faster model anyway. lol

Car keys, cell phone and wallet.

RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.
