My mom gave my sisters and me ironing lessons when we were kids. We started with my dad's handkerchiefs when we were about seven years old. When we could iron those perfectly (not easy because hankies tend to be off-grain), we graduated to pillowcases (more difficult because you have to get two layers of fabric perfectly smooth at the same time). After that, she taught us how to do clothing.
I'm glad I can iron well because I also sew. A good press is the difference between a garment that looks professionally made and one that looks homemade. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

I don't mind ironing, but beyond t-shirts, some shirts and some shorts I'm pretty much useless, so my wife does most of it.
I clean and tidy, and fix stuff. I never wash clothes or dishes, and rarely cook. I know what I'm good at and what I'm not.
I hate dust. MY COUSIN WORKS IN A PHARMACY AND SHE SAID THEY ENEMA'D PRANCE INTO OBLIVION WITH FENTONILS!!

The secret to easy ironing is a GOOD heavy iron with steam... Not some cheapy little walmart iron... Its one of those investments that pays off in the long run ~~~~~ Oh that voice...incredible....there should be a musical instrument called George Michael... ~~~~~

Yup, that's the ticket! You ever go to those home shows where they have all these different vendors selling all kinds of stuff for the home? I went to one about 4-5 years ago where this woman was demonstrating this kick-ass steam iron. It would iron through 4 layers of denim, like a pair a heavy jeans, with one pass on one side. Then she picked the iron up and touched it to a balloon, and the thing didn't burst! It was freakin amazing. I wanted that iron so badly, but I didn't want to pay $250 for an iron.

I'm getting better with ironing, it's cleaning mirrors I hate. they always end up looking dirtier than they were. "what's that book where they're all behind the wardrobe?"

I don't like to iron, this is why I had a professional grade steamer for 15 years. The cotton and linen fabrics I own don't need to be "crisp"... I prefer them to hang with that natural nap.
On jeans, I fold them fresh out the dryer and I NEVER have to iron any heavy cotton fabrics.
Only thing I iron is men's dress shirts and my dressier blouses that are cotton only.
I hate washing dishes too, that's why I buy the more expensive Oil of Olay infused Dawn/or the clear Palmolive and soak dishes so cleaning is a breeze.
I also like rubbing lavender oil on my hands right after I wash dishes, my hands feel so nice after.
But making my damnned bed
