Sure, why not? There are men who hate men, women who hate women, etc. so why can't a homosexual hate homosexuals?

Also, I think anyone who's "ex-gay" would probably be a self-hating homosexual.

i remember a gay chick in college i adored....i had boyfriends n all, but she and i were buddies....i never made a pass at her but after a while she would keep me at bay....maybe i was more boisterous than she could appreciate....ionno, but i respected her space but after a while i sorta resented her for the distance...shrug

Yes of course. Humans can hate their own species as well.

Absolutely. Members of certain groups often are set against themselves.

I don't think everyone who is homophobic is gay, obviously, but when I see someone who tells a lot of "fag" jokes and goes out of his way to be anti-gay, it makes me think that they're trying to hide their own gayness. Some closeted gays can be very homophobic, or at least seem that way.

I've met lesbians who've found the very notion of gay men amusing. Morons will be morons.

I once had a lesbian friend who couldn't stand gay guys. She thought they were obnoxious and vain. Whenever I mentioned having lunch with my gay guy friend she would say , "Ugh! I hate those fags, why do you hang out with him?" and I was like , eek She was a big butch die hard lesbian and I never understood this at all!

Yes, and it isn't uncommon at all.

I've fought with the anxiety of being homophobic in my life, and I believe alot of it is because some people (people like me) hate seeing themselves in other people. When I was younger, even when I was out, I had a negetive reaction to most gay people I met. Nothing extreme I just tended to not like them.

Hell yes. The worst gay bashers in the world are mostly bisexuals or closet queens. I've met very few 100% straight people (men, that is) that have a problem with us. And as for straight women, they are usually more accepting of us than men and the ones I've met that do have a problem with us, are usually the type of women who don't think for themselves and follow the lead of men.

I think I'm a little homophopic. I feel very uncomfortable around really feminine guys.

I've had very few problems coming from butch lesbians. The ones I've always got into it with are those bisexual lipstick bitches who get their kicks from making a fool out of themselves kissing all over each other in public to please some pervert men's fantasies. Some of those bitches will even let men join in threesomes with them and a lot of them have the nerve to even consider themselves "straight" and "experimenting". Just any kind of excuse to keep from catching the discrimination we catch just like these sorry ass trade men. I see them as the "Uncle Toms" of the gay/bisexual world and weak minded bitches that will do things in front of a man with their own sex that those same men would be ready to fight if they were asked to do the same. If a man wants to watch you eat pussy, then make good and damn sure that you can watch him suck a dick first. Otherwise, tell him to go to hell.

I have a gay male acquaintance who barely tolerates women (straight, lesbian, whatever). If I even mention that I'm hanging out with a female friend, he scowls, "Why?!?!" He's kind of a douche. I haven't seen him in years. I have always hated that mind set, but I imagine he's not the only gay guy who feels that way.

Nope. I've met gay men who are misogynistic.

yes there is a breed of assimilistic queers. who hate those who they think do not follow a rather hetero normative role meaning they hate transgenders, real feminine guys, bisexuals, etc. they want to be portrayed as "norma" because in their mind if they are closely resembling a straight couple then straight people will adore them. when in reality thats not the case. also their is this classism that exists typically in the Castro in San francisco. I read about this in a book called "Thats Revolting "its about queer radicalism. so according to the book, some club owners and even gay people in the castro try everything in their position to try to eliminate shelters for run away gays and lesbian kids. they hate these homeless queer teens because see they seem as negative aspect of their society. yes humanity and be quite cruel sometimes.

Yes..I have seen them make fun of more masculine guys, make fun of femenine guys (my partner even does this sometimes unfortunatley..I try to make him stop when he does though. I even on occasion have made comments about lesbians "trying to be manlier than me" in the past. It happens. I regret those comments but I can admit I have said it.

I have (and my partner) slept with guys we know who either have / had girlfriends and still ask to mess with us... and when in a public gathering try to be homophobic when they know damn well they were with us a week ago. Those are the main culprits who are homophobic.

He probably has more issues than a woman themselves than actually being homophobic....

I'm so glad you said that! I was thinking the same thing after I posted on this! I thought, "I also should write about those dumbass girls who kiss all over each other to turn men on" Which I cannot stand! The lesbians I know want a man NOWHERE around!

Hell yes!!! Man, if I had a dollar for every horrible comment a gay man has made about a gay woman...

Shame and lack of knowledge and just plain stupidity contribute but I don't see what addition has to do with it.

Oh, and I just remembered this: Back in the 90's when I was a teenager and waiting tables, I worked at a restaraunt with alot of gay guys (but no lesbians that I knew of) it was before there were so many lesbians, or at least so many "out" lesbians, anyway, when butch lesbians came in to eat the gay guys would sometimes say to me, "Penelope, please take that table over there, they SCARE me!" and I was always like, "What? You're gay- What are you scared of?" I always found this funny.....

I find it difficult to relate to the majority of gay men. They frustrate me a lot. I don't know whether that makes me homophobic but, with a few exceptions, I feel more comfortable in the company of straight people.

It's called self loathing for a reason. It crosses all types not just gays. Light skinned blacks who dislike dark skinned blacks (and vice versa) was a big issue of self loathing when I was growing up.

i was thinking more along the lines of a gay person not wanting another person/gay person of the same sex to know that they were gay.

If i were gay i wouldnt want it to be a community thing in other words...is that homophobis???

falloff @ homophobis. That sounds like a rash.

Anyway, not wanting somebody to be all up in your business is a totally different thing. If you wanted straight people to kow you were gay but not gay people to know you were gay well then that's just weird.
