OK so let's talk about our St Bernards for a minute.

Our first was Roxy. She was part of our "first pack" (her and a Rottie/Lab mix as well as some pups...post later) This gal had been "set free" on a few ocassions by her original owners. hmph! She had also been starved (came to us soooo skinny sad), which must have stunted her growth. She never quite got over 95lbs however much she ate. Not to mention she was a bit hyper. But what a sweetheart!! So gentle with my mom who was ill and with little children. Also quite protective of us. We lost Ms. Roxy to kidney failure at the age of 9 (Saints don't usually live much past 10-12).

[img:$uid]http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i9/jgascot/personal/roxiecouch.jpg[/img:$uid]

Their gentle loving demeanor made it a no-brainer that we would want to do another St.

Bogart, like Roxy fills our home with gentle warm loving hugs. At 150 lbs, he is much bigger than Roxy ever was.

He is also very protective of our home. You don't just come into our house uninvited or unescorted by one of us. He will not have it. No m'am.

DoffieParker

there some REALLY cute dogs here.. check out our jack russell, he's such a darling boy.. sitting on my daughter's lap even tho she teases him badly, he knows she will give him biscuits if he acts cute enough.

he makes lots of noise usually, barks at misfits passing the house & stops the cats shitting in our garden

I don't have pix of them all scanned, but, I have had a number of wonderful, wonderful dogs in my life.. some of them:

for my 3rd birthday/easter present, my paternal grandmother gave me a Toy Poodle. I named him Cool wink lol

I would run thru the dining room and living room and leap onto a big cushy chair -- he'd chase me and nip my toes.. lol my mom would constantly tell us/me to stop, but.. it was fun, so... shrug wink Every time they'd take him for grooming, he'd come back with blue ribbons on his ears hmph! lol -- as soon as he got home, he'd try to rip 'em off.. lol He adored my mom and was very protective of her, followed her everywhere

he was hit by a car and paralyzed [hind legs] a week or so before his 7th b'day, a month before my 10th - my parents had him put down.. that was my first experience with death, and real emotional pain.. it hurt for a looong time. I remember crying in school, so sad.. missing him so much.. he was my first memory.

We adopted a German Shepard-mix yrs later (CJ - I forget why my brother named him that), and my dad's uncle gave us the runt of his Pit Bull's litter; we named her Babydog wink she was the sweetest, most loving thing (and it pisses me off when ppl talk bad about Pits; it's the people's fault, not the dog's when they're dangerous).. They mated doh! and had 8 puppies that we were able to give away after they were weaned (with the puppies, we were up to 10 dogs, 2 cats, my brother had salamanders or something, and a parakeet -- and 5 kids lol )

we had to give Babydog & CJ up when my parents broke up... sad

when my mom moved down south, she got us a Boxer.. we named her Precious.. she was amazing, too... kinda became my maternal grandmother's guardian angel -- she had Alzheimer's and wandered off in the middle of the night a coupe of times.. Precious went with her to protect her.

Yrs later (and about a yr after my grandma passed) Precious and a Chocolate Lab puppy my mom had just gotten and named Bear were stolen from her yard sad mad

I now have a West Highland White Terrier (Westie), named Lexie.. My friend bought her when she was 2 months old, then realized he didn't have time to raise another puppy (he had a Wheaton Terrier named Dexter).. he gave her to me when she was 4 months old - she'll be 10 yrs old in August. She has early renal [kidney] disease (diagnosed when she turned 8) and is on meds daily, but she still acts like/has the energy of a crazy puppy lol wink She is fiercely protective of me... and has a bit of a Napoleon complex.. LoL; she tends to 'mouth off' at dogs that could swallow her whole.. hmph! lol but is fine around smaller dogs (she's 18-20 pounds). I get smothered with kisses and love when I come home from work (and it's "worse" when I go away, LoL).. if I'm late, she'll cuss me out first and then jump me all happy & excited lol wink

and johnart's dogs I love like my own.. I was blessed to know Roxy & Orion before they passed, and can't get enough of Lola (even though she steals my socks, and still tries to steal my food) and Bogart (who likes to sit his 150 pounds on my feet & knock me into a wall so I'll pet him lol ).. sometimes I'll wake up in the middle of the nite and one or both has come to sleep with me lol

Thanks biggrin . I wonder how big they are now, I did not see them since December sigh.

We don't know who did it. Maybe it's better we don't know, I might get into serious trouble if I knew ...

You just can't go on predicted life span. We've had dogs pass way before their time due to unforseen reasons. It's also generally not a detractor for us since we always adopt and our dogs always come to us at least about 1 1/2 yr of age. We've only ever had 2 puppy-puppies and that's because they happened to be born in our house.

After losing Roxy and Orion (post to come) in one year (one 9 the other 8 1/2) I was determined that the next St. had to be no older than 1yr. We went to see him and he kept cowering from Lola (had been severly abused sad ). I feared that this dog would one day just snap and kill her while we were out of the house and there was Mr. Bogart around the corner (4years old when we met him) who respected her as alpha bitch, but did not take too much shit from her and would bark back and let her know. I said, yup, this is the one. nod

You just never know. wink

I get smothered with kisses and love when I come home from work (and it's "worse" when I go away, LoL).. if I'm late, she'll cuss me out first and then jump me all happy & excited lol wink

and johnart's dogs I love like my own.. I was blessed to know Roxy & Orion before they passed, and can't get enough of Lola (even though she steals my socks, and still tries to steal my food) and Bogart (who likes to sit his 150 pounds on my feet & knock me into a wall so I'll pet him lol ).. sometimes I'll wake up in the middle of the nite and one or both has come to sleep with me lol

what the hell is wrong with people??? sad mad

Serious's boyfriends dog was posioned and now your dogs were stolen( who knows what those assholes did)

People say its just a dog ..who cares but i feel if you can hurt animals so freely without a care

you probably have no compassion for humans either.

nod People who are cruel like that have serious issues. And if they had any compassion for humans they would not hurt them by stealing or poisening their pets anyway.

With a very special thank you to Tina: Is hammer already absolute, how much some people verändern...ICH hope is never so I will be! And if, then I hope that I would then have wen in my environment who joins me in the A....

Pedro.. mushy

We got him in 2000 while we lived in colorado... our neighbor across the street had a teacup chihuahua and even tho I had ALWAYS been a cat person and didnt care for dogs, I fell in love with her dog and wanted one of my own... He's not the teacup size but has been my baby ever since I saw his tiny puppy face! GOD HE WAS CUTE!

He is very sweet, He isnt the smartest dog in the world but his antics and sweet cuteness make up for that! Dont get me wrong, he's not dumb at all, just SPOILED! He sticks to me like glue and worships the ground I walk on... Perfect for me! lol

He loves to cuddle and be loved and I cant imagine ever loving a dog more!

for me, if you rape and/or otherwise physically abuse/kill a child, woman, the elderly or animals, you have forfeited your humanity and should be put to death.. shrug biggrin
