Peanut butter! Love it or hate it? I grew up eating peanut butter. I love it freshly made chunky style right off the spoon. Since living in the UK, I have found many peanut butter haters.
Seems strange to me. I love the stuff, especially my mom's peanut butter cookies.
Do you love it or hate it?
Here is my son enjoying his morning peanut buter straight from the jar.

oh how cute your lill boy is an
i luv it.... BUT for some weird reason lots of ppl r allergic to p.nuts these days!!!
it is weird cause when i was a kid no one i know was..... now it's like 50% are
most schools are nut free ( and we r not talking about teachers here )
it would b good to know what is causing this...... but until then it is difficult to keep p.nut butter in the house esp when u have kids and their friends coming over eating and making their own sandwiches...... just not worth the risk

Thanks. He is adorable but far from an angel.
I wonder what is causing all of these allergies to peanuts too. Seems weird, like you said back in the day we all ate it. Now they tell you to wait until they are a year old to introduce it to them. I started off really slow with it. I wasn't sure if he would like it seeing as his dad and his entire family HATE it. I pick it up from the local farmer's market when I can, they make it fresh on site. That and the local honey is to die for.

I love it. I have peanut butter toast for breakfast a lot. A while ago, I switched to natural peanut butter. I didn't like it at first, but now it's my favorite.
(Oh, and peanut butter cookies are the bomb. Yum.)

that's a cute pic
I love it but i find the american peanut butter (and the uk one too i suppose) far too sweet in general (the regular brands are unsweetened here as opposed to the one that contains pieces of peanut) Luckily i managed to get some unsweetened while i was in the US though (seems hard to find)

Natural stuff is yummmmmmmyy! I have only let my son eat the natural stuff so that way he doesn't get used to the sugary junk stuff like jiffy.

I want peanut butter cookies now.

Hi The Whole earth brand is all over the stores here. All natural and no sugar added. Health food stores and farmers markets carry the good stuff but the grocery stores here are good about the non sugary ones now too.

btw it's great on fries too
put in a pan , add water and sweet soy sauce (or salty if the peanut butter is already sweetend however you don't seem to have that in the US) garlic powder and minced chili pepper
that's also great with rice or noodles [Edited 6/14/11 6:44am]

Looooooove peanut butter. Always have, always will.
You should taste my peanut butter, chocolate chip and bacon cookies. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

I thought of you when I started this thread. You had me sold on your cookies till you said bacon.

Huge PB liker ~ not all types but "some" types ~ smooth, unless in cooking/baking
I usually make small batches of fresh ground at the fresh market

Yes it is. I worship the pig.
Are you crumbling up cooked bacon mixing it all together Genesia?
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
I put a couple tablespoons of bacon drippings in as part of the fat in the cookies and add chopped, cooked (very crispy) bacon to the cookies.
They taste amazing with beer. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Cute picture! I grew up eating peanut butter. My kids wouldn't eat it until recently, now they love it to. I'm firmly planted in denial
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
I want to try them. They sound amazing.
Would a couple tablespoons of bacon drippings work in plain chocolate chip cookies too, do you think? Or in any other cookies? I'm kind of wondering if they wouldn't jazz up oatmeal chocolate chip cookies...
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Oh, bacon drippings would definitely be good in other cookies. One thing, though - make sure you use unsalted butter for the rest of the shortening, and don't add any salt called for in the recipe. Otherwise, the finished product will be way too salty. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

I've grown to like it....not love it but...like it. as a kid though...YUK! I hated it. Nothing worse than being over a friends house and the mom is like hey kids you want a snack? and we all go running in all excited only to find out it's a fuckin' spoonfull of peanut butter (or celery with pb, or a pb & j sandwich). no thanx. then to be looked at like I was the strangest kid on the block cause I didn't like peanut butter.
now...everyonce in a while I'll make myself a toasted fluffernutter and I actually enjoy it. My oldest detests pb but my youngest likes it. "not a fan" yeah...ok
