This is me starting a weight loss thread

Yanno, we could start like a motivational thread where we check in and motivate eachother!! :woot;

We could post diet tips, work out tips, playlist, pictures of results, anything to help eachother out.

I just can't get my shit together this time around and I feel like I am NEVER gonna see results.

So maybe if we record progress and here eachothers success stories it'll help.

Only positive stuff though. Nothing like OMG, look at my thighs, or unhealthy shit like, oh I ate oreos and I made myself puke. lol Seriously though.

Does anyone want to?

I've reached in darkness and come out with treasure
I layed down with love and I woke up with lies
Whats it all worth only the heart can measure

My diet is too hard to explain in a post but its been a year now and i have lost 64 lbs woot!

Simple explanation is, keeping within my calories allowed for the day, eating only lean proteins, good carbs and fats on days I work out. Much less carbs and more good fats on days I don't work out. My diet is more for someone trying to lose fat. I workout at least 4 times a week, doing all cardio for an hour each day

and I would have never posted this much of my body on the org before, but now I feel a little better smile

Looking good! The way your diet is set up is similar to mine. A lot of people are afraid of dietary fat, but these good fats help you tremendously. As a diabetic, I find that a balanced approach works best.

Anxious, didn't you have a baby not too long ago? You will bounce back. Just may need to put in some mire work.

YAYYYYY!!!!!

Okay, well can I just say that I LOVE LOVE LOVE Jackie Warner and she is the one who whipped me into AWESOME shape with her workouts back before the baby. I had been doing them religiously for 2 years, and you do see results and I loved my body then.

That mixed in with some cardio and you will look amazing. My problem is that I don't have the time to dedicat that I used to, and also my eating habits have become TERRIBLE over the last year.

So I've decided to start out slow and slowly work my way back up to where I used to be.

My IDEAL diet, I haven't been exactly following it lol is lots of protein, veggies, and fruit when I crave sugar.

I like to mix cardio with strength and I would LIKE to work out for 45 mins a day, but with a baby its almost impossible. Also I'm having a hard time doing all of the different moves in Jackies workouts cuz I'm STILL kinda sore from the baby. Son of a bitch it'll be 8 weeks friday and STILL SORE! lol

Any suggestions?

I'm coming up with all this advice now.....Maybe I should follow it. lol

Rule number 1: THROW AWAY THE SCALE!!!!! For the last few years I couldn't have begun to tell you what I weighed, and the only reason I know now is because of my postpartum doctors visit the other week. lol But seriously, you can SEE how you look in the mirror. The goal (my goal anyways) is No Jiggle. If my clothes were fitting nicely I don't care what I weigh. We want muscle and that weighs more than fat anyway.

Rule number 2: Light weights with lots of repetitions. This will give you muscle without making you look like a body builder. Unless thats what your going for then nix that. But you have to workout. And push yourself. If it doesn't hurt, it isn't working. (Burn hurt, not hurt hurt)

Rule number 3: Don't fool yourself with FAT FREE shit. Don't buy it, don't eat it. Low fat is better than fat free. And honestly the only thing I look at on the label is how much sugar is in it. If it's more than 4 grams, I don't wantit, and I also look at the protein, sorry. Lots of protein is good.

Eat meat and veggies. We don't need a side of fries or mac n cheese, and PLEASE no salad dressing. If you HAVE to have dressing go with a vinagrette.

Be back later with more.

Drinking 6 - 8 cups of water a day helps to keep the pounds off. Eating more fruits and vegetables. Lean meats. Avoid too much carbs, sugar, sauces. Do not skip meals. The key is portion control. In addition, moderate exercise.

I started reading the Paleo Diet but I think it's a little extreme. We've cut out processed foods, as much sugar as possible and all grains. I'm going to do this for 30 days and see how I feel. Then I think I'll just eat what I want on weekends.

Absolutely. Fats help slow the absorption of your other food, so you experience less hunger. The right fats also improve your mood and make your joints feel better.

The biggest hoax ever perpetrated is the idea that eating fat makes you fat. It doesn't.

The problem with the "Paleo Diet," is that it isn't a true representation of how paleolithic people ate. The paleo diet authors have you eat mostly lean meat - which paleo people wouldn't have done. They would've eaten animals "from rooter to tooter" - including organ meat (all organs) and fat.

I’m having the HARDest time getting motivated right now.

As most of you know, I lost 50 pounds a couple of years ago. It wasn’t all I needed to lose, but I decided to happily maintain for a while and let my body adjust.

I gained 10 last year (new boyfriend happy weight) and managed to take that 10 back off starting at the beginning of this year, but I wanted to lose an additional 25. Instead of keeping up my great momentum, I have been losing and gaining the same 3 pounds ever since, for months now.

And I know why – I’m eating too many calories. I know it’s mostly stress and worry causing me to make bad choices, but I can’t seem to turn it around this time.

It’s very frustrating.

This doesn't work for me. What I see in the mirror isn't what I actually look like. It's this problem that caused me to be in denial for many years over just how much weight I'd gained. I need an objective measure to know where I'm at.

But I understand how it works better for some people.

Boy, do I feel this!

I put away my scale 10 years ago. Just felt like I was getting too obsessive about it. Not just weighing every day, but multiple times a day. Always looking for that half pound to a pound. And it was silly - because I'd maintained a 25-pound weight loss for five years, at that point.

Well, guess what happened the second I put the scale away? I started gaining weight. Just a slow creep, but a creep nonetheless. Before I knew it, I needed to buy new pants. omfg Well, I was so demoralized that the creep continued.

Now, it wasn't all changes in the way I ate. My hormones started doing me in at that point, too.

I'm getting the hormone thing under control now. I've lost over 10 pounds since the beginning of the year - just from my progesterone therapy and 5000 IU of vitamin D a day. How do I know it's over 10 pounds? Because I got the scale out again. I'm limiting my weigh-ins. But I figure it's the best way for me to "nip the creep" if it starts again.

I get on the scale almost everyday....that's how I manage the creep...I have a top limit, I start creeping toward that limit and I start limiting my calories. I always (well, since having kids) monitor my calories to a degree, I'm conscience of them at the very least. I have 6 lbs that just will not go away...beer probably has something to do with it. confused I need to burn more calories damn it cause sure the hell aint giving up the beer. smile

Yeah, I never used to do strenth training because I was always afraid it was just going to make me bulk up, but it was the opposite, I got leaner. Muscle burns fat.

The part about the fat, I was basically saying stay away from fat free labels, because fat free foods are loaded with sugar. I actually don't count calories or fat grams. I just stay away from sugar, and eat as much fresh food as possible.
