It's that much better. Once you use Chrome, you realize just how long IE takes to load even basic stuff. Firefox used to be pretty speedy, but they did some kind of update recently and most of the time it kept crashing and was loading even slower than IE....that's what made me jump over to Chrome for good.
This is the first I've ever heard about Chrome gobbling up memory, either; honestly, it's not an issue I've had to deal with at all. My comp never drags, starts up fast, and I've never gotten any system messages about low disk space or anything like that; so maybe that was true of older versions of Chrome, which I never had because I just made the switch recently.
About the only upside I can think of to Firefox right now, is the way bigger selection of browser designs and add-ons. But if you're not lazy, there's always sites like Chrome-Maker where you can make your own Google Chrome designs, so go figure. I just tried to get fancy and de-clutter my desktop by installing one of those docks...it took my brand-new laptop from running at the speed of light to crashing and dragging to load basic webpages...umm, no.
