Do you do pullups, barbell benchpress, or upright rows? Those exercises can be notorious for shoulder pain.

No, kinda (bench press with dumbbells), and yes.

The thing is, I had the problem before my workout yesterday, and I hadn't noticed it the day before, or two days before when I'd last done upper body stuff.

I had to cut upright rows out of my workout regiment. I was experiencing pain in my rotary cuffs when I lifted my arms above my shoulder, as well. It may not be the cause of your shoulder pain, but it probably isn't helping.

Bummer. I'm going to lay off a few exercises for a bit, and my wife's going to give me a massage later. Hopefully that will help.

I can't do regular bicep curls anymore as it kills my wrists. I do only hammer curls now, and they're fine, except if I switch back to regular bicep curls just to see how I go I really struggle even with weight and reps that are quite comfortable doing the hammer curls!

Oh, do I know that pain. Hello, impingement tendonitis!

My therapy for that was "more back, less chest." In fact, my PT said to me flat-out - "No more bench presses 'til I say you can - and no work above the shoulders." That included lat pulls (which actually work internal rotators - not the back muscles you'd expect).

All the therapy I did was to strengthen the mid-back and rear deltoids. Basically, impingement tendonitis is caused by a front/back strength imbalance.

My diet is too hard to explain in a post but its been a year now and i have lost 64 lbs woot!

Simple explanation is, keeping within my calories allowed for the day, eating only lean proteins, good carbs and fats on days I work out. Much less carbs and more good fats on days I don't work out. My diet is more for someone trying to lose fat. I workout at least 4 times a week, doing all cardio for an hour each day

and I would have never posted this much of my body on the org before, but now I feel a little better smile

Thank you Mach! hug It really does feel amazing, the hard work really does pay off in the end biggrin To think, a year ago I could barely jog for a few minutes without feeling like I was going to pass out, now I can jog 15 minutes straight! woot! hoping to one day do those 35 minutes without stopping at all biggrin

How do you feel Mach? We both have lost almost the same amount of weight biggrin

I'm in!!

Saw my Prince concerts and was like oh hell naw! My tits are too big and I'm all bloated in my face and waist. I've gained over 25 pounds in the past year, lost 10 a few months ago, and gained it back already. My main problem is I love sweets and fresh baked goods!! In fact it's like an obsessive compulsive thing. If I get a craving I literally go crazy until I get what I want.

I just bought a Gazelle Edge! I like it!! I have bad knees so I can't run or jog, especially being so overweight. So far my only issues is my feet will hurt after a while. I did 30 minutes yesterday. I want to be on it for an hour, and I think I could if my feet didn't hurt. It's too much weight! I have to lose it because when I'm working I'm on my feet all day and they hurt and swell. Then after work I have a 3 hr drive home and my feet are burning.

I also do lite weights, 10 lb, for arms, sides, and baby squats. I do have a resistance band and a ball too. I like to focus on abs, of course.

I do like salads. I hate to cook. I'm going to go back on the cereal diet (I like Total), cottage cheese and fruit, and salads with beef or chicken strips. I'm drinking a blueberry green tea that's supposed to help suppress appetite naturally. I take chromium, acai berry diet pill, vitamin, glucosamine, and fatty acid as supplement.

I have a calorie monitor, a pedometer, and some good workout plans from Apple which will help too! Just need to stay motivated, which is the hardest thing! Trying not to get diabetes and to regulate my blood pressure, both of which run in my family.

positive - made good, healthy choices almost all weekend, even when eating out

positive - did yoga Saturday, then the bf and I went hiking all afternoon/early evening - some of the highest level of difficulty trails even

negative - While most choices were good throughout the weekend, I brought sorbet (only 100 cal per serving and all fruit!) and a fancy dark chocolate sauce to a friend's for dessert (after a yummy but healthy meal). I brought the leftover chocolate sauce home and ate it out of the jar while watching tv. About 4 oz of it. neutral

That last kinda thing is my downfall and I can't seem to stop.

Hmmm, interesting. I had shoulder pain in my left shoulder for about a year. It hurt so bad if I rolled onto it at night that it woke me up, but otherwise wasn't a big hinderence. It went away, though.

Now I have pain in my right shoulder. It hurts the first set of bench presses, but then it goes away. Never really hurts during shoulder exercises, which is weird. I'm hoping it will go away eventually too, like the left shoulder pain did.

However, I get this weird feeling in the right shoulder when doing chest exercises. It's like the tendons there are catching on something, and popping over it. It doesn't hurt at all, but I know it's not right. I figure it's loose cartilage.

I can only feel it during chest presses, and only after about halfway into the set. The first five or six reps, it doesn't happen.

Kind of a bummer, because bench presses, etc., are my favorite exercises.

Guess I never should have got old!

Awesome! Sounds like a great plan.

I cut out sweets last week, because my belly was starting to jiggle, and I didn't like the shape it was taking. I fear I may have finally hit that point in my life where getting a (more or less) flat belly could be a real challenge. sad I've been so lucky for so long!
