Negative: I ate one of the kids leftover rolls slathered in butter when cleaning up the dishes. lol

are you nursing Madi?...if so, I would think that the extra calories wouldnt be an issue...?

Yes, I am so thats another thing that is hard for me, I have to watch everything I eat. You burn 800 calories a day nursing, but I don't wanna make it 800 calories of junk.

Normally when not nursing I drink a lot of whey protein and eat a lot of nuts. Both give her a belly aches, so I gotta find some other sensible snack that I actually LIKE to replace them.

As a diabetic, I find that a balanced approach works best. Anxious, didn't you have a baby not too long ago? You will bounce back. Just may need to put in some mire work.

thanks! biggrin

I always wondered if a diabetic could do the diet I'm on, how do you know how much take in of carbs, protein and fats?

It was trial and error really. Generally, I try to have 20-30grams of protein everytime I eat. I will also have about 30 grams of complex carbohydrates. I was eating more carboydrates per meal previously, but my blood sugars were higher than normal so I cut them down.

I don't really keep a close eye on the good fats that I take in. I just try to use olive oil whenever I cook and use it to season my food. I also supplement my diet with Omega 3 fatty acids(fish oil).

That's right!

It's all about the choices you make with food, you can eat that one cookie or three cups of veggies, the veggies will do your body way more good! nod And I love to eat, the more food the better! So I really have to watch what I'm putting in my mouth all the time.

I haven't completely given up some goodies, most days I still have dark chocolate but I only have half of a 100 calories bar, I also eat ginger snap cookies, maybe two a day but they are very small lol

Was is super active to you? I hope you are not spending more than an hour working out wink

Everyday - I spend an hour going hard at the gym in the mornings and my son and I go for an hour walk at night with the dog. Plus I'm getting back into yoga and sometimes do a mini workout with my exercise ball.

I'm not a big over eater so it's not like I want to be able to eat more. In fact, I'm an under eater. I just like to eat cookies instead of good food...I looooooove sweets.

I think it's different for different people.

If I exercise I can eat whatever I want, and even if I don't exercise I don't really have a problem with my weight, I just look weak & soft

So I tend to think metabolism is just as much a factor as food--in fact they are directly related

I never had a fast metabolism in the first place but I totally fucked up my body when I was in my early 20s by starving myself...like I just stopped eating and got ultra skinny - but had ZERO muscle mass. Good for modelling, bad for...well, life.

Since then, I eat a fucking cracker and I explode with fatness.

Well, I am the wrong person to collude with on this.

When my wife was pregnant I fed her whatever & whenever she wanted PLUS. I am a "feeder". If she wanted it, I found it and gave it to her. She would crave Jack's tacos so I'd drive 40mins (each way) to the last remaining Jack's restaurant on the island...at all hours of the night.

The kids were born with a normal weight & everything...it's not like she gained 100lbs for each pregnancy...but I just felt like the one time when a woman should be free to eat EVERYTHING is when she's growing a human being inside.

shrug

Of course, she wasn't ever really able to lose her pregnancy weight gain (not that she ever really tried hard) and her negative body image added to our current woes...so maybe in hindsight it wasn't such a good thing?

hmmm

I'm in, though I'm trying to gain weight, not lose it. I am trying to lose fat from some areas though.

I'm 6 ft 3 and last I checked I weigh 176 lbs. Years ago when sick and with no appetite I was as low as 165. eek So far this year I've managed to lose some fat, gain some muscle, and get to 178 lbs, but had lost a couple of pounds from that as of a week ago.

I'm fully back into working out again now though, doing free weights, riding an exercise bike, and occasionally also skipping rope and swimming. I eat some junk food, but I do get a lot of protein, usually 1 shake of whey protein isolate (24g of protein) upon waking, 1 more after working out, then 1 more again in a bowl of oat porridge. I have around 100g of protein in me by the time I've finished breakfast (or rather, my first meal, since I usually eat 4 times a day). I eat a fair bit of fish, chicken, some beef, pasta, tuna salads, and eat fruit (and drink fruit juice), drink lots of tea, and sodas are a rarity now. My only major problem with my diet is beer lol which has given me just about the only fat I have on my body, around my stomach and 'love handles'. I'll shift that shortly though. By the end of May I plan to be up to around 185 lbs with significantly less fat around the midrift. smile

I started reading the Paleo Diet but I think it's a little extreme. We've cut out processed foods, as much sugar as possible and all grains. I'm going to do this for 30 days and see how I feel. Then I think I'll just eat what I want on weekends.

The problem with the "Paleo Diet," is that it isn't a true representation of how paleolithic people ate. The paleo diet authors have you eat mostly lean meat - which paleo people wouldn't have done. They would've eaten animals "from rooter to tooter" - including organ meat (all organs) and fat.

Yeah I know...that is why I decided not to do it. It was an interesting read and I did get some helpful tips so it wasn't a waste of time. It's day 5 of diet and we are doing pretty well!

First of all Listen to the outtake called 'Work That Fat', it will give you all the inspiration you need with Prince instructing you wink

Info rom Dtt-lyrics:

Recorded over the instrumentation from "Martika's Kitchen," this hilarious number about "fat" girls features "Bob George"-style vocals from Prince and a guitar solo from Mike Scott, who later joined the band in 1997.

Work That Fat

Yo, yo - where all the fat girls at?
Get on the dance floor, baby
And let me work that fat (Woo!)

Yeah, let me work that fat
Yeah!

That's how we like 'em - fat and proud
Cuz when they sit down, they sit all around
The whole house - sidewalk and everything else
I'll be damned, baby, if U don't sit on yourself
But that's what I like U 4
(Let me work that fat) {x2}
And take U 2 the crib - I swear 2 God U got stuck in the door
Say U didn't, U know U did
Opened up the ice box, ate everything in the crib
Midnight snack, my ass!
Bought 7 packs of cookies, thinking they would last
I'll be damned, baby ate the wrapper 2!
Then looked at me and said, "Nigga, I'll eat U, 2!"

(Let me work that fat) {x2}
But I guess 4 now that'll do
My baby's fat - I like her like that
I hate a skinny skench talking straight out her hat
About a credit card, and how I need 2 give her mine
I swear 2 God I'll step on that neck every time!
(Let me work that fat)

I'd rather hang out with my boys and cruise Plymouth
Lookin' 4 a fat girl toy so I can make a play
And take her 2 the way
And introduce her 2 my brother Sonny T's bass

Or maybe my guitar
I'll play so loud she'll quickly get her big ass in the car
Get in, shut up, get in!
Push the seat back - U can fit
Then sit on top of the monster, I don't care!
Just shut up, get in!
(Let me work that fat) {x2}
What? What?
Oh! {x3}
U in trouble now!
Mike, turn this shit up!
Aw yeah!

(Let me work that fat) {x2}

Told U U should...
Shut up! Sit down!
Got sho'nuff plenty nerve
(What, what?)
(Let me work that fat) {x2}

Ha ha ha...
Damn, is this where U live?
How many food stamps did U have 2 give 2 get this palace?
Yeah, this is really nice
I betcha my thigh ain't as big as one of these mice
What kind of traps U use?
I know they don't work
Mice take the cheese and say, "D-d-damn, what a jerk!"

U must be nuts - think I'm go'n sleep here
Quiet as it's kept
There's several things 2 fear in this habitat
Let me guess, let me guess
"U like it like that" {x2}
So nobody'll rob ya

Well, as a matter of fact who is this brother?
What's he doing in your bed?
Wake up, brother, 'fore I take this new 9 and tap U on your head!
No no, she's my girl - every last mile
Now I suggest U start explaining
Before I slap that smile in the living room
U got a lotta nerve
Why don't U get your clothes
And introduce your silly ass 2 the curb?
Damn, I shoulda known
Treat a lady wrong, she'll do U the same
Can I use your phone?
I wanna call Mike
Mike, gimme another solo
I'm through with these fat girls

They know they fine
They pop U out every time
Know what, U know what?
If I see your boyfriend outside
I'm go'n hit him with the car
That's right
Oh!
Fat girls
Let me work that fat

Negative: I ate one of the kids leftover rolls slathered in butter when cleaning up the dishes. lol

I had my usual breakfast - organic low fat yogurt w/kashi go lean crunch and tea w/milk and sugar.

For lunch I had a big salad (lettuce, cucumber, onion, mushrooms, mandarin oranges, cheddar cheese and sunflower seeds w/a bit of balsamic vinaigrette).

I’m heading to the gym after work where I will run a mile (I have a one mile race next week), walk some as well and lift weights.

Then going home to make dinner. Probably make a stir fry w/tofu, potato, carrot, red pepper and onion with a homemade curry sauce and served over jasmine rice. (I use light coconut milk and only 1 tsp of oil, so’s it’s all super yummy but still low calorie.)

And then shopping at Ikea with one of my besties. Which should keep me from snacking in the evening.

So today is all set up to be a good day.

I have 6 lbs that just will not go away...beer probably has something to do with it. confused I need to burn more calories damn it cause sure the hell aint giving up the beer. smile

Wow that sounds familiar with the scales, although I refuse the deny myself what I want so I just up my exercise when the weight starts to creep on.

This morning I had a cup of cheerios with a 1/2 cup of skim milk, plus a banana

Then for lunch I had a lean chicken breast on salad with all sortsa veggies (i.e , lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes, green pepper, etc). biggrin

And I pretty much walked all over town today because my car is in the shop. I do intend on running later tonight like I do every night. Then do some crunches and lift weights.

I haven't decided yet what the family and I are having for dinner. Anyone have some healthy suggestions?

I've been too scared to weigh myself for a couple of years now eek

I'm AUS size 12 but my big boobs make me look fat in everything I wear because off the rack stuff is not made for my proportions.

I'd love to be around 62kg, that was a happy size for me, I felt good about my body then. Before I was married I was 64kg and got down to 60 after my kids but it's crept up to god knows what.

I bought 2 pairs of jeans this year smaller than jeans I bought previous year, so I don't think I am getting heavier at the moment.

I don't eat so much, exercise moderately and my plan is to now cut out the drinking. I saw on TV that more than 2 drinks a day will give you cancer sad I would drink 1-3 drinks a couple of times a week and I don't really need to do that.
