I'm actually rooting Chicago in a way. I remember going for them when they went against Boston a couple years ago.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
I'm a Celtic hater, but I give them credit. Unlike the girly-man Lakers, Celtics fought like men.
I thought the behavior by the Heat players at the end was ridiculous. They don't give rings for winning the second round, fellas.

Boston always played like it's their last game... gotta admire them boys for that.
Miami has been known to be cocky.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Just curious, do you hate the C's because you're a New Yorker and we just HAVE to hate each other's teams regardless or is there more to it than that?
Because I don't hate the Knicks at all, not that they've been good for a long time which might make it easier <-- (Not a razz) but even when they were good with Ewing/Starks/Oakley etc... I found myself rooting for them over the Bulls.

Totally agreed, which made it much tougher to see them lose. Between the trade of Perk and the injuries, we just didn't have enough man power to continue to fight on.
What's your dream scenario for the final?
Mine is definitely Dallas-Chicago.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
To be honest, that's exactly what I hope would happen but I'm thinking Miami might destroy that dream but who knows? Dallas apparently got tough competition with Oklahoma so we'll see what happens.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Cool!!!
Well Miami's the only team left I am avidly rooting against, so as long as they don't win, it will all be good. Here's to hoping!!!!

Or others for that matter. When he wins championships, there isn't going to be an asterisk in the books saying he played with D Wade. Garnett, Allen, and Pierce probably didn't talk about playing together before hand but Allen joined first and Garnett initially didn't want to come to Boston. I'm quite sure Allen and Pierce convinced Garnett to change his mind so they can collectively come together and win a title and it worked and all of these guys were All Stars. The only difference is LeBron and DWade were more celebrated all stars. I don't see how the hell anyone can say LeBron winning a title with DWade is tainted. It just doesn't make any sense to me. DWade would be fishing now if it weren't for LeBron joining Miami. [Edited 5/12/11 16:03pm] Don't laugh at my funk

You gotta admit Uptown the Celtics do the same after winning big games. Kevin Garnett is almost like the Ray Lewis of basketball. KG has a long list of classlessness going back to his days with the TWolves. Tim Duncan knows all about it. Don't laugh at my funk

This whole "it's the WAY that he left" BS baffles me. I'm sorry I thought the goal was to play with players that give you the best chance to win.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Actually, I don't think it's about the way he left; a lot of the hate is the way he went about announcing what team he was going to. He could have just kept quiet and saved his announcement that he was signing with the Heat a day before the team would normally schedule a press conference announcing the signing. Instead, he suckered ESPN and the Boys and Girls Club of Cleveland into holding an hour-long infomercial announcing his decision. The Heat is getting all the hate right now for what LeBron did, but had he signed with the Bulls or the Knicks, those teams would be equally as hated.
I figured as long as LeBron was going through the trouble of having a hour-long infomerical announcing which team he was going to, he may as well have gone all out and had Lady GaGa and Justin Bieber on as musical guests.

That's what I'm referring to. My point is what difference does it make how he announched? In today's world of excessive hype, Cribs and reality shows this shit seemed like a good idea to some publicist and obviously to ESPN who aired that shit. People are naive if they think Lebron came up with and executed that concept all on his own. I guarantee you it was some dude in a suit who was seeing dollar signs at the prospect of exploiting the situation and he was just a pawn in the game and got all the negative press. All the criticism is silly to me cuz ultimately this is a business and ratings and hype are central to promoting his brand AND the league.

I go back 40 years with the Knicks, and the Celtics have always been a thorn in our side. I respect their winning tradition(Bill Russell's one of my sports heroes), but I have no love for that franchise at all. They're a long-time division rival who've stuck it to my guys too many times, whether it was Havlicek/White/Cowens, Bird/Parrish/McHale, or Pierce/Garnett/Allen. During the Bird years, those mfers used to come to MSG, kick the Knicks ass, and laugh about it. I'll always root against Boston, no matter who they play(even if it's another rival like Chicago or Miami). I feel the same way about Dallas and Philly in football.

Exactly. There was no need for that three-ring circus. It was lame. But Dan Gilbert's behavior was uncalled for. Lebron gave him seven years, resurrected a dead franchise and made him millions. I wish Lebron would have stayed and built something in Cleveland, but he did what every American has the right to do.
You know what's really lame? These annoying Knick fans who curse Lebron for rejecting NY. For two years, they begged him to come here, now they hate his guts. Assholes.

You'd think they won the championship the way they were carrying on. Judging from Pat the Rat's face, I don't think he was thrilled either.
Heat vs. Bulls - two teams that have history with the Knicks. So I'm hoping the Thunder take it all.
