Eastern Conference Finals, Game 4

Chicago 93 Miami 101 F/OT

Miami leads series 3-1.

rolleyes sigh mad pout

In the most grueling defensive game of the entire NBA playoffs, it was the Miami Heat's defense and the Bulls inability to score down the stretch that allowed the Heat to pull the game away in overtime.

Actually, this series is reminding me of the Bulls playoff series against the Detroit Pistons in the late 1980's and early 1990's and the New York Knicks in the mid-1990's. All of those series were defensive slugfests that forced each team to grind it out. This series is just like that, except the players for the Heat are not playing dirty. biggrin I thought the Bulls would ultimately be the biggest threat to challenge the Miami Heat and their celebrated trifecta, but I also thought they were at least a year away from being title contenders. It appears I may have been right all along.

Yep, poor offensive execution at money-time, same as OKC.

Right, it was like they were just throwing anything that stuck. And I don't know what type of shots Derrick Rose was shooting. confused

They put James on him late and that was it. No more penetration. Only fadeaway jumpers with a hand in his face.

nod I actually love how Chicago has grown out of the shadows of Jordan, Pippen, Rodman and 'em. Now if they can just get to the Finals (and win it) be it this year or next year... lol

mad I really can't believe how badly the Bulls have played the last 3 games. Actually, I can believe it because Miami is just exposing their weaknesses. This game hurt. They had it and just fucking choked. This lost goes to D Rose with a doubt. Why the fuck would he go 1 vs 1 with Lebron? That was so fucking stupid. And why a fucking jumper when he couldn't do shit all postseason? Take it to the fucking rim. goddamn. They had the game in their hands when Lebron was called for the offensive foul toward the end of the fourth. Instead of cussing out fans, Noah needs to work on finding some kind of fucking offensive shot.

omg I was so pissed at the end of the game.

I agree. The coach (or Rose) should've had someone else going on the offense against James. And Joakim is another weak link. I never liked him for some reason. rolleyes

Yep. The lineup in the end was dumb as hell. Going into this series I really thought that they had it on lock. I thought that nobody could get passed that defense. But Miami solved their internal issues and the Bulls main problem all season (nobody on the fucking team besides Rose can create their own shot) is being exposed.

But I give a ton of credit to the Heat, they're playing amazing bball.

The Heat did to the Bulls what the Bulls did to the Lakers in '91(by putting Pippen on Magic). Rose vs. Lebron won't work, Thibodeau. You gotta get some ball movement going.

With Haslem and Miller both healthy and doing their thing, Miami will be hard to stop.

Yep. nod And had either of them been healthy for a large portion of the season, they would have finished with 65 wins and had the best record in the NBA. This was the lineup Pat Riley anticipated when the season began. At least for the Heat, it's better late than never.

Western Conference Finals, Game 5

Oklahoma City 96 Dallas 100

Dallas wins series 4-1.

The Thunder led for much of the second half of this game, but once again in the closing minutes, they cannot hold off the Mavs, as they storm back from eight points behind to win the game and series. The Mavericks now return to the NBA Finals in their second appearance. clapping highfive dancing jig party woot!

Now I'm reading that many Bulls fans want Dwight Howard. They shouldn't even entertain that thought. Unlike the NBA I watched growing up, today's league is centered around wing players - 2s & 3s who can take mfers off the dribble and create their own shot. That's what Chicago had with Jordan and Pippen(with Longley at center), and it's what they lack now. Folks clamoring for Howard aren't paying attention. Did they not watch Orlando's performance - they have the weaknesses the Bulls do.

Dwight would be like a sore thumb in Chicago so I disagree with including him in the Bulls as well.

While Dwight Howard would give the Bulls a commanding presence in the paint, he has the same issues of not being able to create his own shot, plus he gets into foul trouble too often and he can't shoot free throws very well. As lacking as Joakim Noah is offensively as far as scoring, he can rebound well and pass the ball well for a big man. Plus he shoots about 70% from the free throw line, while Dwight Howard only shoots just above 50%.

But the Bulls need a second scorer who can create his own shots at either the shooting guard or small forward position. I think they should have picked up Tracy McGrady, but even Ben Gordon would have been helpful to this Bulls team.

And BTW, whether the Bulls' season ends tonight, on Saturday or Monday, or in the NBA Finals, they will have to go on without Omer Asik, who was diagnosed with a fracture in his ankle.

Miami's advantage is having players at the 2 & 3 who can create off the dribble. That's what the Bulls should aim for.

While they're still a pretty good team, the Bulls have been lacking since John Salmons was traded. pout He was their clutch. Rose could really use him right about now. confused

IKR? They've made some stupid plays too (Miami has too tonight) but I think either team that goes forward, Dallas would probably sweep them.

I'm thinking the same thing, lol. With Terry (#31) and Dirk on fire all day, as well as that crafty Kidd at point, lol, neither the Bulls nor the Heat have a chance. lol I want the Bulls to make it to the Finals though. At least their stuggle with Dallas would be entertaining, lol. The Heat are rather boring to me.
