Hey my friend

A bunch of us talked about this some time last year regarding baseball and the lack of a salary cap.

I think you know I'm originally from Boston and used to bleed Red Sox. I'm still a fan and always will be to some degree, but what the Red Sox did last off season just continues to make me like the game less and less., (acquiring almost ALL of the big name free agents).

Some folks say it shows signs of great ownership who really care about their fans. Heck I'm the beneficiary of this and I say it's a sign of a supremely flawed, broken and corrupt system that keeps the rich, rich and the poor, poor.

The Sox open up down here in Dallas this weekend and I'm not going. Just can't support the machine anymore. And this is coming from someone who collected all the baseball cards as a kid, knew all the players stats and loved the game for three decades.....

So I guess in summary what I'm saying is, take your first place Yanks and shove em!!!!! razz

The hardest part about being a METS fan is the wisecracks from other people.

But a true fan hangs in anyway.... I've been their fan since I was a little girl. wink

(at least Castillo and Perez are finally gone! If they'd just take Beltran out behind the barn and shoot him, I'd be good. biggrin)

It's true MLB has problems, but I forget them every time a small market team sweeps the Yanks.

Living with wisecracks huh? I seem to remember a certain team from NY crushing my hopes and dreams back in 1986 hmmm.... Whoever could that be??? lol

I lived with the 86 year curse of the bambino for 37 years before we finally pulled one out so I know all about getting razzed and hazed and all that jazz. It's all in good fun.

I totally agree you gotta stick by your team no matter what. Just don't like the game as much as I used to that's all.

Unless you're a fan of a team no one cares about, we all get wisecracks. My mum is a Mets fan and so are my cousins. So I hear all the time how the Yanks buy their championships when they win and are the worst team money can buy when they lose. Or how they are all on steroids. rolleyes

You guys are the MOST brutal...

I'm sorry, but someone complaining about the Yankees' payroll is nothing compared to what METS fans put up with year after year. lol

Example: The TV Studio teacher came on the morning news

to say, "Today is the Yankees home opener. Sorry, Mr. L." Really? He left his office to go into the studio during the kids' broadcast for that?!

I don't tease anyone. Not even Bosox fans. My family loves it when the Yankees lose. And I just don't get that. I don't get excited when the Mets lose. confused I'll even watch and support the Mets if the Yankees aren't playing. It's all New York and the city is better off if both teams are good. I don't get all the hate. shrug

Red Sox are in last place! biggrin

I was feeling really bad for the Mets for awhile there. Getting no-hit on opening day. disbelief Luckily MLB network jinxed the Marlins by tuning in to the game in the 7th inning right before Josh Johnson gave up his first hit. razz

Ugh, don't remind me. My entire summer, my evening commute is ruined by Yankee fans taking the B train to the games, while all I want to do is to go home at night without being subjected to a subway crowded with drunk, obnoxious B&T fans. I have a print out of their schedule by my desk so I know which nights to take the bus; even though it takes 15 minutes longer, it's usually worth it so I don't have to deal with the league's most obnoxious fans.

The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

Why are Red Sox fans at so many Yankees games? hmmm

biggrin

Seriously though, Yanks are at home almost the entire month of April so just take the bus every day until May. comfort
