Family, Friends Mourn Florida Teen After Grisly Murder

Apr 23, 2011 – 3:00 PM
Friends and family members today remembered a 15-year-old Florida boy who was allegedly lured by an ex-girlfriend to a house, where he was beaten and shot to death. After his body was burned in a backyard fire pit, his remains were hidden in paint buckets.

Five people have been charged with first-degree murder in the death of Seath Tyler Jackson, including his 15-year-old ex-girlfriend Amber Wright; her boyfriend, 18-year-old Michael Bargo; and three others.

Jackson's family planned a memorial service for 4 p.m. today at the First Baptist Church of Summerfield to remember the teen, described by a former neighbor as a "spunky, bright kid."

An undated photo from a Facebook memorial page shows Seath Jackson, a 15 year old from Florida who was allegedly lured to a home by his ex-girlfriend where he was beaten to death by a group of teenagers.

"He always had a good comeback for you," Jesse Kedzorski told the Ocala Star-Banner.

Jackson's parents reported their son missing Monday, stating they hadn't seen him since the previous day and he possibly was a runaway. However, according to arrest affidavits released by the Marion County Sheriff's Office, the mother of one of the suspects contacted them Tuesday and said her son had witnessed Jackson's murder.

"One of the suspects mentioned to his mother, 'He's not missing, he's dead,'" Marion County Sheriff's public information officer Judge Cochran told the Orlando Sentinel. "She, in turn, put him in the car and brought him to the Marion County Sheriff's office and that's when our detectives got involved more ... to round up all the suspects."

That boy, 16-year-old Kyle Hooper, was among those charged this week with first-degree murder. His sister, 15-year-old Amber Wright, also is charged with first-degree murder. Their stepfather, James Havens, 37, is charged with accessory after the fact. Havens is accused of helping to hide the body and driving Bargo out of town.

"I was in the wrong place at the wrong time and I was in the wrong place with all these kids. And I let these kids do something they shouldn't have," Havens told local television station 13 News.

A combination of four booking photos from the Marion County Sheriff's office shows four of the suspects being charged in relation to the murder of Seath Tyler Jackson. They are Charlie Ely, Justin Soto, James Havens III, and Michael Bargo.

Clockwise from top left: Charlie Ely, 18, Justin Soto, 20, and Michael Bargo, 18, are charged with first-degree murder in the death of Seath Tyler Jackson. At bottom left, James Havens III, 37, is charged with accessory to murder. Not pictured are minors Amber Wright, 15, and Kyle Hooper, 16, who also face first-degree murder in the case.
"I don't know what to say because I'm looking at a lot of years right now. I'm scared. I don't have freedom now. I lost everything now," Havens said.

Charlie Ely, 18, who lives at the house where Jackson was killed, and Justin Soto, 20, who lives with her, also are charged with first-degree murder.

According to the arrest affidavit, the five murder suspects were at Ely's home when Bargo "began to speak of his hatred" for Jackson.

"The conversation then turned into a plan to lure Seath to the residence so that Michael Bargo could kill him with the assistance of the other persons," the affidavit said.

Jackson's ex-girlfriend allegedly sent him a text message luring him to the house. There, Hooper and Soto attacked him, hitting him in the head until Bargo shot him multiple times, according to the affidavit. When Jackson attempted to flee, Soto tackled and restrained him, hitting him with an ax handle, and Bargo shot him about four more times, the affidavit said.

The boy's body was then placed in a bathtub, where Bargo is accused of breaking his knee caps, hog-tying him and placing him a sleeping bag.

According to the affidavit, "The sleeping bag containing the victim's body was then brought outside into the backyard of the residence and burned in a fire pit." The suspects later used a shovel to scrape the remains and ashes from the fire pit, placing them in several five-gallon paint cans which they left in a dumpster on the property.

The prosecutor in this case, if they prove every possible charge surely are going to go for the death penalty on guys over 18 and life plus a incredible amount of years with no possibility of parole for the minors. They will only see the light of day through the small window in their cells. Unfortunately for humankind , this is not unusual. That's at least fifty people's lives ruined forever. What a terrible group of people they were, show no mercy towards them.

The whole story is sad. It's scary knowing so many youth today, have no regard or respect for life, no matter where they come from. Scary. When I saw the story on AOL, and saw his pic, he reminded me of one of my former supervisor's son. Just terrible, that after they killed him, what they did to his body.

sad doesn't even begin to describe it. i do wonder if drugs were a factor. don't remember reading that in the article. people need to stop this mob mentality that's being fed to them everyday in the media. it even spills over online. distgusting. maybe the the punishment for murder isn't hard enough. but then again i wonder if society/goverments like it that way.

Well-said.

What boggles my mind is the adult in this situation. What was he thinking? A man of 37 years old finds out the remains of a child are scattered in buckets in his backyard and his reaction is to drive the boyfriend out of town and dispose of the remains? Wrong place/wrong time? Are you kidding me?

I can't even believe it was the natural mother whose reaction was, of course, to take her little monster to the fucking police. The stepfather must have been equally shitfaced as these kids had to have been. What kind of substance do these folk look like they are familiar with? They certainly look like meth heads.

humans are pack animals. we like to think we are free from base instinct but we aren't. look at what happens at sporting events, which break into violent brawls. look at what happens on crowded pilgrimages, where people are trampled every year. you can see this tendency on roadways. watch how five or six vehicles will clump together in a tight-packed cluster on the road. humans are animals with animal tendencies. a crowd, or mob, becomes more than the sum of its parts, with its own unthinking momentum and feedback energy. which is not to say the actions of these idiots is forgiveable. the entire situation is a tragedy from start to stop

These people weren't trained killers or pushed to the brink of sanity. They weren't in harm's way or even remotely close to it. There's transcripts of facebook exchanges between the victim and the girl (who isnt pictured here but is pictured elsewhere). She dumped him, his pride was wounded, she found a new and older boyfriend and the two men became viciously jealous of each other and threatened to kill each other for months. The victim even threatened to burn her house down with her family in it.

Drugs were involved. Meth, to be exact (and I called it, too). Meth rots your brain the fuck out. I don't buy for one moment that there's anything animal or even human about the situation beyond humanity's tendency to respond to oppression by means of displaced anger.

What is even more sickening, is what they did to his body after they killed him. Imagine the level of hate that consumed them, to the point where killing him wasn't enough; they had to dismember his body and put his body parts in buckets to satisfy their hate/anger, and to know an older adult participated in helping them hide the body is just as crazy. They didn't "dismember his body and put his body parts in buckets to satisfy their hate/anger".

They burned his body and put the ashes in the buckets to hide the evidence in an attempt at not getting caught.

Which means they are not crazy and better not even think of trying insanity defenses. They are cold blooded murders in the first degree, in the capital punishment state of Florida.

Dumbasses the whole lot of 'em! One person is dead. Four others will possibly be facing the death penalty. The two minors could end up being charged as adults and face the same fate. There's no 'group insanity' defense.

It was a premeditated conspiratorial first degree murder.

Of course everyone's story's going to be the victim started the fight and it got out of hand.

Then, (just like in the movies) they "panicked," and tried to get rid of the body.

^^^^ That mom is an amazing woman.... who would immediately stick their child in a car and bring them to the police to face muder charges? Many mom's protect their children in these situations.

An asset to her community and this world. worship rose Its too bad her children fell in with some bad influences.

Of course they did it to hide the evidence, my point was the hate/cruelty that remained in them, when choosing how to dispose the body, which is why I was referring to when I said killing him wasn't enough.(figure of speech). Anyhow, that's the way I see it.

Kudos for doing the right thing mom!
