this lil guy, whose feet are bigger than mine was doing something he no doubt shouldn't have been on top of playground equipment in the schoolyard. Next thing he knew he was on his way down to ground head first and used his hands to break the fall. A teacher found him sitting, ashen faced with a sheen of sweat, in shock. She couldn't get him to stand up, he couldn't hear her talking he was in that much pain
I got the call, within 5 minutes I was at the school to pick him up - I felt totally justified leaving the car in a no-standing zone was almost hoping to pick a fight with a parking inspector. Drove him 10 mins to our closest hospital (where Max was born )
Today he is watching every episode of Star Wars Clone Wars, with strawberry milk and toasted cheese and tomato sandwiches, happy as a pig in mud to be missing school and last night he slept in my bed with me so I could give him pain meds as needed. He said he couldn't sleep, but he did.

My daughter did the same thing...fooling around on the playground and she broke her arm. This was ONE DAY before her dance recital!!!!

yeah now I am depressed about that
I need to get a psychologist to assess him. He is displaying anti-soclial tendencies and is not developing socially at the same rate as his peers. Academically VERY bright just "different" and prone to bullying. He is one of THOSE kids that nobody else plays with, because he is volatile in temper, bossy and contrary. He plays the role of victim, and EVERYONE is wrong except for him Sooooo self-centric and completely without empathy
I've just made an appointment with the doc to get the referral. Hopefully that will give us some help in how to deal with him, because I have no idea.

I have no kids, so can't relate, however can imagine that you want him to be happy allways, all the time.
The son of my friend has similar problems. He's in an extra class at school, called 'friends class', where he learns adaptive social behaviour. And yes, he's different than most kids, however, he's my friend. I love him deerly (for 6 years now) and he comes by now and then at my house and we just have a blast. He doesn't grasp the idea that his mom and me actually have been friends a lot of years before he was born. He just thinks I'm his friend, and his mom happens to know me too
Sometimes life will be tough for him, however, because he's different than others, he also has a lot of special and wonderfull moments in his life that other kids don't have. Everybody is entitled to his/her own challenges in life. Even your son.
Hang in there.
The photo of your son with the arm just cracked me up. I was laughing out loud! That expression is so cool and funny. Really great kid!
99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%.

yeah, I hope he can change - a friends class sounds like exactly what he needs
he came across looking really smug in that photo! and he isn't - he is the loveliest most appreciative child in the world Today he can watch Return of the Jedi and it's like all his Christmases came at once!

Yes. It's called Queensland. "...and If all of this Love Talk ends with Prince getting married to someone other than me, all I would like to do is give Prince a life size Purple Fabric Cloud Guitar that I made from a vintage bedspread that I used as a Christmas Tree Skirt." Tame, Feb
