That is not boring! Virgo's, typically critical. Do some research. If you believe in reincarnation, then we all had many lives each one a different(race, sex, e.t.c).

falloff @the virgo critical part. Quite on point!

Yeah who knows maybe I had some more diverse background in former lives lol.

Yes, and don't forget, they are annoying too! hehehehe

I just found out that my great grandparents came here from Germany.

Other than that:

Irish

Scottish

English

Sorry, my bad, they were consistent. I took tests from African Ancestry & Ancestry by DNA. My paternal & maternal lineage were the same from both.

The shocker was finding out I had more European ancestry than Indigenous American. Many black Americans have that mistaken belief.

So they were consistent. That's heartening.

If you don't mind my asking, how much did you pay?

[Edited 3/9/11 18:11pm]

Jamaican, African, Dutch, Chinese, Native American...that's all I know so far. Can't really trace my family tree since most of my ancestors were slaves and did not get registered.

Cant trace for the same reason as you lol but evidence would suggest

  • African (dunno which area tho)
  • Jamaican/Cuban = Maternal Great grand parents, one born in Cuba, other in Jamaica
  • Indian or Taino = (Paternal grand mother was jamaican indian)
  • Chinese = (great, great, great male relative (rumoured)
  • Scottish? = both parents surname is scots, land we own was previously scottish plantation plus my brothers cousins and I were all both with freckles and red hair!
  • French (rumoured)

I find slave ancestry facinating it's such a pity there are so few records!

One minute they want peace……

It's a shame. I'd love to find out what my family was in Africa and who we were before the slave days.

Interesting thread. I like reading what people's lineage/origins are.

I'm Armenian on my dad's side of the family. I probably am the only Armenian here on the org. lol My dad's parent were born in Armenia, and came to the U.S. when the Turks started to invade Armenia. My dad was born in the U.S. (I think in New York). My last name is long and hard to spell/pronouce. lol

My mom's side of the family is Irish on her dad's side of the family, and Russian on her mother's side.

Sometimes, when I tell people what my nationalities/lineage/origins are, they say, "Wow, that's a strange combination!" lol Well, strange or not, that's what makes me who I am.

[Edited 3/21/11 15:04pm]

RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

Shout out to Brooklyn!!! We in da house!

I'm adopted so I have no clue at all.

To look at me Imma guess that like most African Americans I have a heavy dose of European and Native American. I have red hair and a temper so Imma guess some Irish. And when I put my hair in pigtails I totally look like a Native.

If you can spring it, get one of those DNA tests. My brother paid for one and since we have the same parents, it fit me, too. It was really fascinating. Come to find out, my father's side had more European blood than my mother who had more African blood, but she's fairer skinned than my daddy was.

Spell check.

On my dad's side, black and Seminole Indian. The Seminole comes from his paternal grandmother. My dad's maternal side, not sure of, but there is some mix there. My dad's maternal grandma had beige skin and silky, long black hair she could sit on. That whole side of the family is EXTREMELY light. My mom is adopted, but we do know a bit about her family as her maternal grandpa wrote a book about the family. I have Irish, English, German and black on that side. My mother's mother had fair, fair skin with green eyes and blonde hair-could have passed for white. My parents are both darker than me. I am very light. Genes are a funny thing and sometimes they are hysterical.

We have a family Bible which goes back almost three hundred years. My family name originated from Czechoslovakia, they came to Wales as horse traders .

Around 1900 they had a tailors shop where they made all the local Police uniforms.

My great great grandfather somehow ended up as local mayor... eek
