How are you defining "egotism"? And agree with him (her?) in what regard?

Could Stern's show survive without stirthepot-probably not.

Wholeheartedly disagree.

Egotism means placing oneself at the center of one's world with no direct concern for others.

Although Stern can show some perspective on egotism by showcasing it-Stern also uses it to reinforce one's own ego (Both Stern's ego and the audience's ego). Most the ploys on the show (not all) are designed to feed one's own ego. I just believe Stern is part "shtick" and part shining light on all the pretense of the world.

99.9% of everything I say is strictly for my own entertainment

I would disagree also. Stern gives an extremely entertaining, highly amusing (IMO) commentary on the media driven culture we all live in and are exposed to. Do I agree with his perspective all the time? No. But I am highly amused by his, none the less. I do agree with Ace - he does shine light on pretense.

Howard has a huge amount of concern for others (perhaps too much - hence his neuroses). As for "direct" concern? I had a very wise junior high teacher who explained to us that everything we do is, ultimately, for ourselves and I would be inclined to agree. The reason Howard's show is so popular is that we are all egotists (as you define it, anyway).

Here's the 'Stern Show' in a nutshell:

'The world's a crazy place and most people are full of shit. Let's have some laughs about it!'

It's one of the things that keeps me sane. cloud9

Look, his behavior's become increasingly dangerous (both to himself and those around him - let's not forget that there've been several incidents where he threatened women physically). If CBS hadn't done anything and someone had died, they would've looked like total unfeeling asses.

Charlie is BOSS

This is a delusional drug addict who's threatened a porn star in a room that adjoined his children's, held a knife to his wife's neck and whose teeth are falling out of his head. Do you really think that's "BOSS"?

He got a million followers on Twitter in about eight hours - 2,500 per minute. "Two and a Half Men" was the highest-rated show on TV Monday, and it was a repeat. Charlie Sheen now dominates all the TV network news and entertainment shows.

That's what they call "scoreboard" in the TV business.

Charlie Sheen looked better when he was high... he passed his drug tests and looks like a raggety Andy, all sweatty and pasty faced.

He looked at ease in his morning interview on the Today show this morning with his lawyer. Still looked pale though... he needs to use a make-up artist.

That's the effects of drug abuse. I'm convinced he's a mental case.

Dangerous?

Are you living with Charlie?

No. So how can you make that judgement?

Delusional?

He seems mentally sharp and quick witted to me.

I support Charlie because he is standing up for what he believes and isn't letting people like you make the decisions for him.

Charlie IS clean at this point, so what is there to be said? Isn't his addiction the reason for this whole situation? It's time to move forward.

A celebrity speaking their mind isn't a crime but some people are sure making it look that way.

Charlie is BOSS.

You must be a SQUARE.

I dunno. When a guy does things like hold a knife to a woman's throat, I get a little concerned. I'm funny like that. shrug

Well, yeah, cocaine does tend to race the mind. But you're right: What's delusional about wanting to raise kids in a house with drugs and porn stars and thinking that killing yourself is "winning"?

I support Charlie because he is standing up for what he believes

If I believe in playing Russian Roulette, are you going to applaud that?

Charlie IS clean at this point

Well, he may have been clean (if the drug-test results he's been flashing around are legit), but he's clearly going to use again soon, if he hasn't already. The man is an addict.

You must be a SQUARE.

If being a "SQUARE" means I think it's sad that a talented man, who could have everything, is killing his career and, quite possibly himself and/or others, then, yes - I'm as square as can be. disbelief

Killing his career?

Have you seen the ratings?

He is at an all time high. No pun intended.

His children are too young to understand what a porn star is. It shouldn't matter what they do in their personal lives as long as they aren't negligent with their care, and I highly doubt that the children are getting coked up.

Was it ever proven that Charlie put a knife to his wife? He plead guilty on behalf of a plea bargain and to make an assumption without being one who investigated the case is not a smart idea.

Stop acting like such a wuss!

Oh come on, he pulls out a piece of paper that claims he took at test and that means he's clean? He, like, flashed the paper for a split second. lol
