Cathy Hughes Isn't A Fan Of Halle Berry Or Mo'Nique!

For those of you who don't know Cathy, she's the woman who owns TVOne(and also hosts one of the shows in there).

Yeah,,mmhhmm,,,,ooooooh OKAY!

Ring the bell? lol It will come to you, because her interviewing vocabulary consists of only those words, and lord knows she's generous about them with everybody who sat in her show..

I hated her interview with Louis Farrakhan. He might as well have been sitting there all alone.

Hmm....do we really care what she things about Halle and MoNique?

I'M NOT SAYING YOU'RE UGLY. YOU JUST HAVE BAD LUCK WHEN IT COMES TO MIRRORS AND SUNLIGHT!

I just found it comical that she praised Martin & Madea Picks Cotton for the same reason she put Mo'Nique & Halle blast for, 's all.

nod You notice how Mo and Halle are more crossover than Martin & Madea. Maybe there's some professional jealousy going on? And both Mo & Halle are Oscar winners mind you.

Never heard of her.

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

So when it's funny it's cool, but when it's serious it's deplorable. IMO I dont think the portrayls she mentioned are the problem it and of itself. The problem is the lack of balance in the portrayl of black people. White ppl get to be portrayed in every light, good or bad, and it's fine because there is a balance there, whereas with others in tends to be negative on a more regular basis.

Thank you, and thank you AGAIN. My throat is going sour trying to say that to people who make a comparison between the two.

"We have to see each other with new eyes".

Malcom X

It's not a question of what whites think, the question should be, do we ever worry how we view each other? We've debated and shared our views on this particular subject upteem times. What really sticks in my crawl, when given the opportunity we've been more than willing to pimp the same images Hollywood has been beaming out since "Birth of A Nation". So, Ms. Hughes needs to give it a rest on that score.

Still, ever so often movies are made about Black life for which the plotlines are layered, the characters are complex, and we've failed to support these films. If "Love Jones, "Hav Plenty", "Daughters Of The Dust", "Beloved", or "Love, Sex and Eating the Bones" had been semi- hits those producers, directors, and writers would've been given resources, the "green" light to expand the visual scope of Black cinema. I have no issues with showing "use" in all lights. . . the good, the bad, and the ugly, but we appear to be just as stuck on these tired plotlines. I some-times question if I can surmise what's real and what's nonsense.

I worked for Radio One for 8 years. She started it. Ventured off to TV One...I think that was her son's doing. If you have seen the movie "Talk To Me" with Don Cheadle, it is kind of the back drop as to how Radio One was started. Dewey Hughes, who then managed the character played by Don Cheadle, bought the station that Don Cheadle was an on air personality for. Dewey's wife is Cathy...well ex-wife. In their divorce, Cathy bought the station, and eventually purchased more stations. It is the largest Black owned radio corporation. Her son is the CEO, Alfred Liggins.

Cathy Hughes is a special one, honey. Alfred Liggins bought Black Planet in 2008 in order to play catch up in the radio and internet rage...Yeah, he didn't believe in the internet. How do you buy Black Planet and hype it like it's the rage? That's so 1999!

But anyway, that's Cathy.

So, in your opinion would you say that TVone and Cathy have the intention and the ability to produce more quality programming than say, BET?

Or is she just talking a good game?

Remember when Cathy was all like "we need to save black radio" (considering she didn't give a damn about so-called 'black radio' until the artists threatened to be paid through radio plays)? And Cathy brought up Dionne's name upon others. Dionne basically cursed her out.

The female black entrepreneur in an all-white boys club factor might have something to do with it, little did I know, there were rotten things going on that haven't met the eyes.

In other words, she's an accessory after the fact, in the demise of what used to be good Black radio! Yet, she's so "concerned" about the portrayal of Black people on TV and in movies.

She's "special" alright. I heard those crazy ass commercials of hers when she was trying her damndest to keep from paying royalties under the Performance Rights Act. I thought somebody had let Orly Taitz loose on Black radio.

She needs to go 'head on somewhere before Petey Greene gets up out his grave and slaps the shit out of her ass with a watermelon!

Cathy is sooo full of shit. Radio One developed a department strictly for record ads. They required labels to pay RO 25grand to add the music to RO rotation. I remember when that shit first rolled out. For about 6 months we didn't add anything new. It was AWFUL! Then she turns around and says the labels want to rape her. Get the fuck outta here. And Jeff Majors...Cathy's man...oh that's a funny one too!

I'm gonna do some research, but I read that in some way the titty boy, Alfred Liggins shut Bob Johnson out of starting another Black cable TV channel. I'll look for it. Cathy is so special y'all. I remember one year we had patti LaBelle for keynote speaker at our women's empowerment event. Cathy had us put chairs up on stage and she did her One on One with Patti. Unbeknownst to Patti. She was like, I have a speech prepared, when am I gonna speak? All while in front of 15,000 people in the arena waiting for Patti to speak. Cathy taped her show right there, while our paying audience was waiting for Patti's keynote address.
