How many orgers in interracial relationships?

I am! I'm black and my husband is white. Thankfully we haven't experienced too many problems from outsiders though on occasion i've seen black women look at me with dissapointment in their eyes. sad

Anyone care to share their opionions or experiences on dating outside of your race?

I'm white.

I was in a long-term relationship with a white girl a couple of years back, I took a Japanese opera singer out for coffee a couple of times, went out with a couple of interesting black girls a few times, dated an Armenian girl and currently I am in a relationship with a girl originally from China.

I've never really experienced any problems when dating outside my race.

wha??? why sistahs looking at you with dissappointment? I would think you'd get that kind of look from other folk.

hmmm

I've dated jews and cubans/mexicans all through my teens and early 20s with a smidgeon of asians. When I turned 28, I was all about the brothas and it's been that way since. I've only ever gotten flack from white and latina women and black men; usually the result of jealousy. The women were like "oh she thinks she's all that" and the brothas were like "traitor or paper chaser". Such reactions mean doody to me because the aforementioned groups are often the first one's to step out and date interracially.

I will say this about interracial marrying/breeding. If you're going to branch out...do it with dignity and date a person of substance. There's nothing more pathetic than those people who don't bother to check a person's background, family tree and character when dating interracially but when they date their own...they want mr. or mrs. perfect! If you're going to marry or make babies with a person that has nothing going on ....you can keep that in your own race/ethnic group/community. If you are going to go outside...make it be a step up, not a step down.

Tiger Woods comes to mind....matter of fact...so does Stacey Dash.

I'm in a steady relationship but we are the same background. I've only casually dated outside my race so far, I was with a black guy, arab guy and a pakistani guy. The black guy was really hot and though he once said he only liked me cause of my legs, he was always really nice to me and adorable! The arab guy was sensitive and shy, but too shy for me, he would get his friend to talk for him aw. The pakistani guy didn't like me being outspoken if I kept stressing an opinion, or insisting on paying for things at all. I know most people expect the guys to do it, at least on the first date, but I like taking turns and asserting my female power when I need to.

I wasn't in a steady one or anything like that to answer the types of questions you may have, about thinking about the future and all. I used to think about what it would be like, in terms of religion, culture etc. I like having someone of my religion which I do so I don't have to explain it, but at one time I was annoyed with it cause of the community talking and being nosey and wanted to almost be with someone outside it where we respect one another's beliefs and go our on ways for congregation if we do go. I used to not be sure about this cause of children, but I decided in the last year or two I never want children, it's not my thing. They are sweet to play with, but I can't stand the buggers and feel like a lost child myself to some degree.

I am white, have my hair dyed in red and I am very pale. My boyfriend is black and pretty dark skinned and his dreads nearly touch his ass. Everybody stares at us and he is more uncomfortable about the constant attention we get than I am.

I was in one for 10 years, and have dated outside my race/ethnicity many times. The only time I have ever had an issue was when I was with a black dude and some black chicks chastised us at a club. Lame.

We got some stupid comments, but nothing that really affected us yet. I am pretty sure it will happen sometime though. And I am used by now to the fact that when I am without my bf men in passing by cars blow their horn and yell "Whitey" at me all the time shrug.

I surely dont discriminate. I'm black and I've dated most races..apart from asian. I could give a f*k what anyone thinks. I'm attracted to the character of the man and someone who treats me like I need to be treated.

I dont see color..even though many people around me do....especially when I dated a white dude...he became my boyfriend for a while..but this caused alot of friction in my life. In the end I gotta make myself happy so whatevs.

This may get me in trouble, but, assuming you're not parading his whiteness around like it somehow makes you more fully human (and, sadly, some of us do still carry on this way in 2011), my guess is that's not disappointment you detect; it's jealousy that you've acquired real estate someplace those particular women have merely dreamed of visiting. confused

If that's the case -- and if your husband and you genuinely honor one-another -- I say let 'em suffer.

Are you kidding me? Halifax has a very high black population.

The ten largest census metropolitan areas of black population were Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, Calgary, Vancouver, Edmonton, Hamilton, Winnipeg, Halifax, and Oshawa.[9]

Preston, in the Halifax area, is the community with the highest percentage of Blacks at 69.4%

First, I yield to your personal experience. You've certainly been in Canada much longer than my 4 years. And, in fact, I make my comment about Halifax in half-jest, as I've never been there. boxed

BUT...

"Halifax as a very high black population?" I dunno about that. smile I mean, granted, it's got one of the highest in Canada... and Preston's got by far the highest in Halifax. But according to Statistics Canada's 2006 Community Profiles,* of Halifax Regional Municipalities' overall population of about 370,000, only about 27,500 (or 7.4%) were visible minorities. And of that amount, only 13,000 (roughly 47% of visible minorities or 3.5% of the overall population) were black. Is that really "very high?" shrug I suppose it's subjective.
