The US are doing their own version of "skins" now? I know the UK show (which I presume is the original?).

I recently read the US are doing their own "shameless", which will be a very tall order to re-create as the actor who plays Frank Gallagher, the main role, in the original UK version is just so damn good!

Go watch the UK "Shameless" instead. I think "shameless" is much better and funnier then its little cousin "skins". Even the current series of "shameless" is still definately worth watching.

the US remake is absolute shite. the actors look literally like kids rejected from glee. it's a shot by shot remake without the nudity and language, which is pretty much the point of skins

the remake of shameless however is fucking great. great cast, led by the wonderful william h macy. it was good that he stayed out of the first episode to allow the supporting cast to shine before he made his full appearance in the second episode. the US shameless is a good example of how to remake a UK show but give it something new and make it work

the US version of the office started as a copy of the UK version, but it's been running far longer now and has long been well into it's own and been an excellent show. ricky gervaise guested in last nites episode

LOL at the US cast of "skins" looking like "Glee" rejects. I guess if HBO did it they would make it as "racy" as the UK version, but the way you desribed it, it sounds pointless. Never liked the show much anyway

Great that they got William H Macy for "Shameless". It does sound different enough just by him alone. I remember the first few seasons being quite shocking for terristrial tv.

skins probably would have done better on showtime, it's not really an HBO type show. it fits better with the rest of the stuff on showtime on sundays, shameless, californication and episodes

the problem is skins is very much directed at a teenage audience, whereas premium cable aims for a slightly older demographic, so MTV aims for the demographic that skins is aimed for, but MTV is extremely censored so not suitable for showing skins. a version of skins like the UK version doesn't really have a place on US tv

both skins and shameless are on standard tv in the uk, which opens it's audience. shameless is on channel 4 and skins is on the sister channel E4 (on free digital tv that most people have). skins started season 5 last nite and shameless is in the middle of season 8 at the moment

Not sure what the appeal of watching a bunch of losers is, but judging by the popularity of those "Housewives of Where Ever" shows, lots of people like watching losers.

MTV continues to target the lowest common denominator...it's trash at it's finest (or worst as the case may be)

How is it you feel?

mtv needs to go back to its roots and play music videos again. i'm friends with the president of mtv and he's a avid ghost hunter. next event/convention we are at i really gotta bring this subject up.
