Need fashion advice: Winter clothes in a tropical place?

Help: My wife is taking a business trip to Miami tomorrow morning, and she wants to pack a pair of suede boots. They're pretty sharp, but will it be odd for her to wear this winter material in a place that's technically experiencing winter, but functionally is darned-near stuck in permanent springtime/summer? Will she look like a nut, or can she get away with wearing suede down there? confuse

Darlin' it's FLORIDA. I don't think "real" rules apply (unless she's meeting up with PunkMistress).

You have a point. It is Miami. hmmm Maybe I'll tell her to just go with a bikini and these...

Suede boots are fine in Miami. I've noticed that women in Miami, LA, and NYC tend to wear boots of any material year-round. Being from Texas, I think it's odd when I see someone wearing thigh-high boots and shorts in 80-90 degree weather. Here, in general, we wear open-toed shoes year round and reserve boots for winter months regardless of temps. The only thing I'd warn her about are the flash rainstorms that tend to happen in Miami which could ruin her boots. But, I don't think it's their rainy season right now. cool

On second thought, Prince did perform at SB in a tsunami in February a few years ago. And it did rain in Miami once or twice last year when I was there for SB. That rain ain't no joke. hmmm

I have no idea about Florida, but I was wearing my leather boots in Trinidad when it got colder in the evenings and I got compliments how cool they look all the time from everybody smile. I was really hesitating to take them there and pretty afraid people (including my boyfriend) might laugh about me and would have never expected so many positive reactions lol. Even all the sales people in the hardware were complimenting me falloff.

With a very special thank you to Tina: Is hammer already absolute, how much some people verändern...ICH hope is never so I will be! And if, then I hope that I would then have wen in my environment who joins me in the A....

She should dress according to the temperature. SCNDLS is right about the flash rainstorms, but that's not until hurricane season (June-Nov.). She can always grab an umbrella at the dollar store (lincoln road) or any Walgreensif they warn of rain.

There is the time of year in Miami when if it's cold, people will pull out all the stops to bring out their boots and heavier clothing for the two or three weeks it'll be chilly lol , and yes we do wear boots as a fashion statement even when it's hot (just with shorts, dresses, without hose, etc.)e. But given the highs for the next week will average between 70-80°F, your wife should wear pretty much what she would wear at home in those temperatures. She should also check the weather channel or Yahoo! weather for a multi-day forcast; I've relied on them for years and they are always accurate and help packing go more smoothly.

Hope she has fun, it's high season there now so it will be a pretty busy environment smile

Y'all are great. I told her to pack them just in case and play it by ear when she gets down there. And I'll warn her about the potential rain.
