I had just looked up my old thread from when they first started dating a year ago.

I hope so, they seem well-matched. She's on the cover of Essence this month so maybe she talks about it. Congrats to them if it's true.

MALCOLM-Jamal Warner and Regina King are reportedly set to marry. The pair — who have known each other since the the 1980’s and have lived together since early last year — are on the verge of making their romance official! “Malcolm and Regina are thrilled that they’ve found the most satisfying relationship of their lives… They’re both extremely content right now, and marriage is the next step,” a source said. King has a son, 13, with her ex-husband named Ian Alexander Jr. “Malcolm and Regina have known each other since the ’80s, but two years ago their friendship blossomed into romance,” said the insider. “They recently found a place together in Los Angeles and (they) are living as a family with her teenage son. Malcolm loves the boy as if he was his own, and Regina refers to Malcolm as her ’soul mate’.”

She's a MAJOR sports fan, so I've run into her several times at different events over the years. She always has her son with her and is genuinely nice. [Edited 1/10/11 14:04pm]

One could say the same about Regina. It's not like Hollywood is overflowing with opportunities for black actors. I'm glad she's finally back on tv but I don't think her show's gonna make it cuz it's already been cancelled once.

i'm not even American so what do i know, but for me there were loads of great black actors from the late 80s and early 90s who just seemed to have slipped through the cracks.
there was this great intelligent positive vibe about black culture when i first got here, but it all went away to be replaced by thugging and materialism.
hope my comments wont offend. just an outsider's perspective... everyone's a fruit & nut case

I LOVE her, especially when she is angry

I agree, and I'm not offended. Ultimately those with the power to produce and greenlight projects find that projecting a certain image is much more profitable than trying to portray minorities in general, and black folks in particular, in any honest, realistic, or balanced way.

look at something like A Different World. we're 20 years on from that now and it seems hard to imagine that there used to be a show about black university students on a major network.
depressing. everyone's a fruit & nut case

Ain't that some sad shit? There are fewer quality shows with diverse black characters now than 20 years ago. And don't even get me started on the missing black romantic comedies that we saw in the late 90s. So much for progress.
