I can't think of any local owned fast food restaurants in my area anymore because unfortunately, the chains ran them out of business decades ago. In the 1980s, we had two chicken joints....Hobo's Fried Chicken and New Orleans Fried Chicken. Much better tasting chicken than KFC, Popeye's, and Church's.

One of the large local fast-food chains here in Dallas is Williams Chicken.

http://www.zvents.com/images/internal/3/4/4/5/img_415443_primary.jpg?resample_method=

People come from near and far to get a pice of the greasy sensation.

Another BIG "hood" chicken shack in Dallas is Rudy's. Thanks to Social Networking, Rudy's has gotten big. A lot of hip-hop and gospel acts run to Rudy's to grab a piece of it.

My town in Iowa has a Chick-fil-a although it's located in a mall on the other side of town that has less than 10 stores in it. Our city offices are now located there due to the flood in '08 and if it weren't for them the place would be closed. I so wish someone would open a drive thru Chick-fil-a like they have in the South. drool

And we have Hardee's instead of Carl's Jr.

Prettyman I think I named William's Chicken. I used to go to the one in Irving. Don't remember Rudy's though.

And yes Lust food is what we're known for in America, particuarly Houston Texas. We're the food capital. We have more fastt food than any other nation.

Although there's this one in Germany that supposedly kicks ass. It's spelled Donner or Dunner. I think they sell great steak sandwiches or gyros.

Sick!

Actually, I'm quite proud we only have McDonald's, Burger King, a few KFCs and Subway in Austria. Makes it easier to avoid them (except Subway, which is not that unhealthy and gross).

Sorry for my rant, I hope I didn't spoil anyone's appetite!

(- because you'll spoil it yourself the next time you look into a mirror, after having eaten at a fast food restaurant regularly evillol)

- Sorry again!

I saw that u posted Williams after the fact (I'm sorry about that).

Rudy's is in the heart of the hood. It's at the corner of Lancaster and Kiest in Oak Cliff. I know people that drive from East Texas and Oklahoma to get a piece of Rudy's Chicken. It's not that great to me, but it is different.

From what I've heard, it's similar to Frenchy's in Houston. I've never had Frenchy's, though.

What you mean is "döner kebap", and you´re right, it is very similar to gyros. "Döner" simply means "spinning" or "rotating" and it´s called "döner" because the meat rotates slowly while being grilled.

It is NOT the name of a restaurant chain though, just the name of the meat itself which can be served on rice or as a sandwich. There are thousands of different döner places, and the quality varies from cheap and almost unedible to very tasty and healthy, depending on where you go and how much you are willing to pay. Of course you can also get a very bad one even if you pay a decent price, or you can find some cheapo but high quality place. The best one in Munich, for instance, is a place called Cavusoglu in the Goethestr.

The place looks ridiculously low budget with almost no interior design at all but the quality and price are unbeatable.

Döner is Turkish, usually made of lamb or chicken whereas gyros is Greek and made of pork and is served with coleslaw and tzatziki sauce. Döner also comes with tomatoes, onions and tzatziki, and red cabbage salad. Shawerma is Arabic and pretty much the same stuff but with slightly different spices. Real döner has to be marinated in joghurt and onion juice overnight, something that most döner places don´t do anymore.

I´m not really into fast food but I think we could do with a few quality places like Fatburger, Carls Jr., In and Out or Fuddruckers because I can´t stand the big chains like McD and BK or Subway anymore. IF I eat fast food, and that is VERY rare, I want to at least eat some tasty stuff and not the bland "food" that Mc D and Burger King sell.

I´m not really a big meat eater though and would love to see more quality vegetarian or fish restaurants around here. Most vegetarian or fish restaurants are boring.

Well there's Wendys, McDonalds, White Castle, Hooters, Five Guys, Burger King, Pizza Hut, Dominos, Kennedy's Chicken, KFC, and a Popeyes near me.

I have a weakness for White Castle's chicken ring sandwiches w/ honey mustard on them. Yum. I also eat Wendy's from time to time.
