I actually have not heard it. I remember reading it was coming and then I forgot. doh!

John,I am demanding that you listen to it lol It really is one of their strongest, most consistent albums and a huge improvement over the last album ('Dynamite') which I felt was slightly uneven.

'Dynamite' has some great songs on it ("Seven Days In Sunny June","Starchild","Electric Mistress") but it falls apart midway through.'Rock Dust Light Star' is very consistent from beginning to end.

In my opinion Rock Dust Light Star's first two songs are great, but the rest lacks climax.

I dislike even "A Funk Odyssey".. boxed

disbelief 'A Funk Odyssey' is my favorite album by them lol

That album contains the perfect mix of Old School funk and disco mixed with modern-day electronica. It's actually my favorite album of the 2000s.

lol I like only singles of that album and beautiful "Picture Of My Life".

As I said, first three albums are classics (even thought the second one has mediocre audio quality). Then it became "singles" band.

They are still great live, though headbang

I doubt his acting skills are on a par with Pacino, Deniro, and oh....Depp.

I've never gotten the Pacino-love. To me, his acting seems totally over-the-top. I've only ever seen Depp in things where he plays eccentric characters (a cakewalk, as far as I'm concerned), so I'd be curious as to whether he can naturalistically play an everyman. And doesn't DeNiro mostly play the same kind of character?

I should note that I generally find acting (or "pretending" as I prefer to call it lol) - and fiction in general - kinda silly. smile

okay Dear..I take issue with what you've said.

2) it's quite common knowledge to us orgers that you lust..um like bob saget, but I doubt his acting skills are on a par with Pacino, Deniro, and oh....Depp.

At least Britney isn't pretentious. That's the WORST thing about Jamiroquai.

By the way, Zender's an asshole. Got Melanie Blatt pregnant then upped and ran away before the kid was born. Loser.

At least they are not a product.

Are we talking about skills or personalities? Stuart is awesome and talented bass player. I don't care about his persona as long as he has the groove. Otherwise, I could start talking about Britney's so-called marriage, Prince's "business" ways, about Axl Rose and Billy Corgan etc..

I'll take a product over watered down imitation whiteboy disco funk anyday. Gotta be real about it. Britney has never tried to hide the fact that she was a manufactured popstar, and "Blackout" is about a million times better than any Jamiroquai album.

The Zender thing was a side-point. I just thought it was worth mentioning. I agree that Jamiroquai were (slightly) better with him in the band. Well, I know some people that know Zender and they all say he's a total cunt.

What's so bad about whiteman disco funk? lol It's just another musical genre like hip-hop, pop, whatever. JMRQ's first two album have an ecological message and great acidjazz music. They're funky live, they've got cool videos, their singles collection is very strong.

We will just agree to disagree ;-)

Axl is total dick. Billy is total dick. Prince is total dick. James Brown was total dick, too. But their music is great, you get my point?

Am I the only one who thinks that the intro of Electric Mistress sounds very similar to Futurama theme song?

I guess it's not so bad. To me, it just sounds forced, like they are really trying too hard. You know? Like, it just doesn't feel authentic. Maybe some people can get past that. But I listen to so much funk, so when I try and listen to Jamiroquai, something about it just feels watered-down.

I wouldn't say Prince is a dick. He was very nice when I met him smile But yeah, fair point.

Well, I wouldn't call Jamiroquai pure funk. You can't compare it with anything Sly or George involved. It's more a mixture of acid jazz, soul, funk and disco plus a little bit of electronica. The good thing about them is that you can recognise them immediately (it could be a bad thing for some people, I know).
