Shyra said: I would think a person who saw loved ones die from cigarette smoking would be supportive of those who are trying to quit....

Don't presume. I never said they smoked.

The irony is in the thread title. Example: simply remove the 'but' and it reads totally differently.

Support and encouragement means nothing compared to ones own willpower, so spare me the self-rightous dialogue.

People need to enable and empower themselves and get a grip - if you want to give up smoking, GIVE UP SMOKING. The ONLY person that's going to do it is you, period.

You sure want so much consideration though you lack compassion. You posts come off as if you are still very angry, I hope you get help for that.

I can't wait for the day when tobacco executives are charged with murder.

I really, truly do not know how anyone that works in that industry can look at themselves in a mirror.

It's hard going cold turkey for a lot of people, so don't be hard on yourself for not stopping immediately. Just cut down on the number of cigarettes you have a day and stick with that and then gradually reduce it till you've stopped or gone down to one a day, cause you will get withdrawl symptoms if you stop right away unless you get a patch or have ways to counter it, or start doing something else like drinking coffee in place of it LOL

My mother went cold turkey years ago.... she was at 3 packs a day. I am glad she stopped and everyday she thanks me for her support.

I am so proud of her, I think you can do this too Shyra. I never smoked, but if my mom could quit, you can too! hug

highfive It's on, girl! I just got done spraying Febreeze on my coat. I'm at work and had a cigarette before I came in. Got in the office and hung up my coat and smelled the smoke in it. UGH! I got that can and sprayed the coat inside out. Lawd, I'm so embarrassed...

I am going to get my patches tomorrow. I have one cigarette left in the pack. I'm gong to hold on to that one cigarette until I get home (I usually smoke 3 in the car on the way home). Lunch time tomorrow, I'm driving to Costco to get my patches because I know I wouldn't make it through another day without them.

Amen! I am so glad many old tobacco farms in the US are now farming organic veggies and fruits.

I wonder if people trying to quit could just get straight tobacco and roll their own so that they wouldn't get pumped with so much nicotene and other addictive additives they put in cigarettes. Or is ALL tobacco processed the same way? hmmm
