Nick Van Exel's son arrested 4 murder

Son of Hawks assistant charged with murder

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

The son of Hawks assistant coach and former NBA All-Star guard Nick Van Exel was arrested Wednesday and charged with murdering a close friend.

A Dallas police spokesman said Nickey Van Exel, 20, shot Bradley Bassey Eyo at a residence in the 6900 block of George Brown Drive in Garland, Tex. then dumped the body near Lake Ray Hubbard less than a mile way. Investigators quickly focused on Van Exel, who turned himself in to authorities on Wednesday, as a suspect, police said.

The younger Van Exel's attorney said his client and Eyo were playing with a shotgun Saturday when it accidentally fired, according to the Associated Press. Van Exel "panicked" and moved the body, the attorney said.

Van Exel is being held in lieu of $1 million bail.

disbelief

Has no one learned from Jason Williams? Dumb ass.

On a side note, I didn't even know that Nick Van Exel was coaching anywhere, let alone for the Hawks.

"Uh, yeah. I panicked. Umm, in my panicked state, I figured the best thing to do was pick up a dead body, load it by myself in my car, drive over to a secluded part of Lake Ray Hubbard, make sure no one was watching, and then dump the body where hopefully no one would find it. Yeah, I panicked. That's the ticket!"

sigh more dumb ass behavior.

I'm not buying the "playing with a gun and panicked so I hid the body" story. I think they were arguing over some foolishness, probably a continuation of a previous argument, and lil Nickey shot lil Bassey with every intention of killing him. He hid the body so as not to get caught. Watch, somebody will eventually come forward and speak about a "bad rift" between the two.

geek

$1 million bail? Does daddy have that kind of money?

Wow....now that's a big drop. He is very fortunate. Some judge must believe his story. Either that or he's got one of the best attorney's out there.

Childhood friends...get a load of that. disbelief I'm still not buying that a couple 20 year olds were "playing" with guns. That is so friggin' bizarre to me.

Might not be that he believes his story. Just that he doesn't consider him much of a flight risk.
