The only thing I can add is that I know testosterone has a very interesting side affect on women. lurking

I am always happy to inform both sexes. I just did not want to gross any of the men out with too much information.

I do know a few women that must have too much testerone.

when my sister and I lived at home and every now and again we'd need to sit down and have a bitch about my dad, if he entered the room, we would pepper the conversation with words such as: tampon, menstruation etc. It was guaranteed to make him leave the house. neutral

But by the time he was 2 or 3, things have gone back to a predictable pattern. Much heavier bleeding (than I ever had before I had kids) for 2 days, then 3-4 very light bleeding after, and all in all relatively painfree.

Post partum, (the time after giving birth) is still a period of adjustment for your body physically, especially hormonally.

Keep an eye on any potential PPD symptoms as well though, don't rule it out, the sufferer can often be the last one to recognise it. As far as depression fixes for the time being probably, look into natural alternatives - I'm sure UKs dark winters are not helping you at all.

I guess I fooled myself into thinking I was back to normal too soon. My periods seemed to come back quickly after the baby and they were much more heavy and lasting about 7 days. Because I was on the pill most of my adult life, I was spoiled by having them regularly and only for 3 days.

I was on schedule with my periods up until Oct time and when they went a bit crazy I blamed the stress of our trip on the 2 periods that I had that month.

The dr did say that she is not surprised that I am having some of my symptoms especially during the winter.

She puts most of it down to stress and lack of sunshine. She said that if we cannot find a physical cause, we will have to look into PPD.

I'd adopt a wait and see approach for the time being, perhaps keep a symptoms and mood diary and see how things improve once spring arrives.

it will also help when you keep seeing different docs each time to have this with you. They will also appreciate it nod

That is what I think I will do for now. I get too frustrated and worked up when I go to the dr and nothing is resolved.

My mom is feaking out though because she had the bleeding before menopause and had to have a DNC because of the thickening of her endometrial wall.

Which can lead to cancer. It is hard for her because she is 5000 miles away so she can only nag me through email and yahoo IM.

lol

I have been keeping a log of my bleeding on the calendar on my phone so I can keep track to see if it gets better.

I just need to make sure that I get back to taking my Vit D3 to get me through the winter.

I think I was a lizard in a previous life.

Ha! When I typed DNC, I was like, "that's not right. Then I went on and did the spell check at the end.

Lawd! I am losing it. I spent 19 years in the medical profession and I mispell that.

My mom said she felt much better after her D&C.

I will give it a few more months to see if it straightens out. Maybe when the little man is 18 months, I will re-evaluate how I feel.

Come next winter we will be in a warmer, sunnier place.

Whoa! That is too hot.

I don't know how ppl from the UK adjust to living where you are.

I find that I do ok with the cold weather, it is the lack of sunshine that I struggle with the most.

I don' tend to have a problem with reading things and thinking I have all of them. Years of working in clinical research teaches you a lot about pinpointing symptoms.

I was concerned about my thyroid since someone on my fathers side of the family told me that my father was diagnosed with Grave's disease in the past two years. His sister was diagnosed with it when she was in her 30's.

He is also diabetic and has high blood pressure.

I feel very lucky so far considering the all of the ailments my family have. My father is also very heavy and does not take care of himself. I think all of this is just payback for being a jerk.

shrug

I will give the little man a big hug and a kiss when he wakes from his nap. He is into kissing everything at the moment. By everything, I mean his toys, his sippy cup and my phone. Unfortunately, I usually am not on the list, I have to sneak them in. I hope he becomes cuddly one day. He is clingy when he does not feel well but he does not want cuddles, is that a typical boy thing?

I want a cuddly monster. When he hurts himself, he wants me for like a split second, then he wants to deal with it by himself.

I still haven't had a nap with him. This morning he woke early so I brought him in bed with me. It was pitch black in the room and as soon as I tried to lay him in the bed, he sat up and started talking and playing. He will not lay down in our bed.

Which reminds me - a Vitamin D3 supplement might not be amiss, either. It won't help with the periods, but it definitely helps with mood, weight and a whole bunch of other stuff.

Your vitamin D level should be between 30 and 100 - and closer to the high end, if possible. A couple years ago, my doctor tested me and mine was 17. omfg No wonder I felt like crap!

I've supplemented ever since (even in summer, since I work full time and don't get enough time outside to make my own D). Even so, when I was tested a month ago, my reading was only 36 - barely a passing grade. So my new doctor wants me on 10,000 IU of D3 daily for a month (again, omfg ), 5000/day for another month after that, then 2000/day to maintain.

And this is not a problem that affects only women. Sweetie's been seriously vitamin D-deficient, too. (Double whammy of being a black person living in an "indoor" climate and no longer having an ileum due to Crohn's disease.)

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

my D level was 8 in May (she told me normal was between 30 and 80).. she put me on a 25,000 pill once a week for 3 months...

I felt so much better... and like amonth after I ran out -- I started feeling crappy again and it got progressively worse (but I'm dealing with really crappy landlord [a relative] bullshit that has me pretty upset so I don't know how much is b/c of D deficiency/how much is external stress).. neutral

I've been taking 1,000 a day and it's helped some, but I know I have to get back to doc lol ... hoping I can make an appt in January..

(Double whammy of being a black person living in an "indoor" climate and no longer having an ileum due to Crohn's disease.)

my D level was 8 in May (she told me normal was between 30 and 80).. she put me on a 25,000 pill once a week for 3 months...

Well, you have to maintain it!

1000/day probably isn't enough for you. NOW makes a good 5000 IU gel cap. Best prices I know of for vitamins is at iherb.com

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.
