I think the bottom line is, the man, even though I don't him personally, seems to have a good heart about things and has done wonders for the community....which speaks volumes compared to other celebs who brag about what expensive alcohol they are endorsing or what over the top expensive gifts they have bought their spouse. Nonetheless, at least it's being reported that we do know that Perry is putting his good fortune and popularity to good use...at least in this area. I still don't really care for his movies or writing skills...but like it has been already mentioned, these are two different topics and one doesn't have anything to do with the other.

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

rolleyes When has anyone "dissed" him for doing something good or charitable for his community? Discussing his lack of skill or talent as a writer/director when he releases a new movie is a valid argument. What he did here is a good thing, but it don't make him a good director. One thing has nothing to do with the other.

Yep.

I'm sure he's a nice guy too, from his interviews alone you can tell that,,,,,,,but Nicki Minaj is also cool in interviews and I'd rather scratch on an old metal plate right after I clip my nails than to listen to her music.

I don't know why there's so much stake on somebody's attitude/personality when the only thing you'll get from them is their WORK not their visit to your house. 3/4 people in this thread wouldn't spit on Prince 1 foot 1/2's ass if he was on fire for the lawsuit he filed on that mother who posted her little girl's youtube video and not to mention the "cease and desist" letter he slipped on this VERY site among many many many other things,,,,,yet here we all are.

Considering the original post is clearly about and demonstrates Tyler Perry's attitude and personality and not his WORK, I'm afraid I do not understand your reply.

Now for the record...as pissed as I've been with Prince for the reasons that you mentioned, I would STILL put his 1 foot and a 1/2 ass out, if he were on fire, in front of me.

It's Larry Graham's tall lanky ass that I wouldn't spit on! evillol

I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

My reply wasn't regarding the OP, it was regarding the claim that posters here were "dissing" TP, when it was his work thats being dissed. My point was a person's work and how he/she comes across should be separated. Me mentioning Prince as an example was to emphasize that, given that he's a grade A asshole but with a much revered body of work.

I don't remember anyone ever really talking bad about his character, I've just heard complaints about his work (mostly his writing and acting abilities).

I've seen his character questioned on here. Most of the bad talk of his character has been critism on him coming out (or not) and making movies that cater to bible thumpin folk as a suspected gay man (or in general). Not that any of that has to do with what is being discussed on this thread.

Not the case with everyone but i know there seems to be the same select few that

does this.

Please allow me to point your attention to more than a few threads on here that may hopefully clarify where that claim comes from.

I commend him for that. We may have differing opinions about his films but I always thought he came by as a good man so good that he's helping people in need.

So... what I get from all of this brouhaha is that Mr. Perry is making up for all the really shitty movies he's foisted upon society by rebuilding this Grandmother's home...

what are the odds that his next movie will be about a grumpy ol' lady who burns her house down and then in a tremendous act of charity her community rebuilds said house and the ol' lady has a change of heart and becomes a heroine of sorts and at the end, when she passes, there's a big ol' Nawlins style parade - roll credits

now wait a minute- if I had a gazillion billion dollars and could do charitable tax write off media attention whoring stuff i'd do it too hmph!

oh but wait- nope- I don't tend to toot my horn before or after I do things for people. There are many a rich folk annonymously dropping $100 million coins in salvation army donation stations and paying for little kids chemotherapy and transplant surgeries and we don't even know their names.

so if he needs to be criticized it's not for his work -cause dont nobody put a gun to your head and force u into the theatre - and its not for his acts of charity- but its all this attention he's getting surrounding it- that's one huge reason I can't stand Oprah....

highfive I abhor that heffa!

And you're right about folks doing shit for media attention usually right before their movie or album drops. Yeah, I might feel a lil more pity for you about the child abuse IF you weren't spilling your guts on Oprah's couch while promoting a film. rolleyes
