December has been one of the hottest on record here, today its officially 85f (28c) degrees with unofficial highs reaching 90f(32c), (Usual December highs are 72 (22c)), and this is in the southern hemisphere.

Our summers may seem cold, but they are balanced out by our very mild winters, coldest night in Auckland this year was 3c (37f) and usual winter daily high is 55 -60 (13-16c), coldest highs are 11. We only ever had snow in 1939, and now they are disputing if it was actually a hail storm as it was 12c (54f) when this so called 'snow' fell.

Our summer usually peaks in February rather than December.

Mostly cloudy now with temperature around 26 or 27 (80f), Christmas sees a cool change to highs in the low 20s (70f) and night lows of 14 -15 (56=60f), great I will be able to sleep again.

We get a lot of hailstorms, downpours and then weeks of dry weather in our summers and the humidity is about 80% so it always feels like 100f here.

Huggiebear, Are you a meterologist?

Kind of, weather is a huge interest of mine, I have my own records going back 3 years, and its pretty much up there with Prince in my estimations of interest and joy.

So what are u going 2 do? R u just gonna sit there and watch? I'm not gonna stop until the war is over. Its gonna take a long time

Wow, you are a weatherphile. What do you think of Ken Ring and his "looner" forecasting? I think he is a massive conman or seriously self deluded.

So do you hate rainbows or just their children? biggrin

Massive con, it was exposed, Ken uses weather data from 15 years ago and tries to reapply it for his own use.

I don't like TRC because its lazy sounding and its lyrical content is ridiculous.

Cool to cold, constantly cloudy and somewhere between a drizzle and a full on rain for the past few days, as well as the next few. But that's how I like it, so I'm doing a rain happy dance. It's supposed to be raining pretty good on Christmas, too. Really looking forward to that.

We're consistently in the 30's here, and it's snowing like crazy, which is unusual for Hamburg. Our climate is usually tempered by the North Sea so our winters tend to be rainy up North. That snow stuff is for down south by the Apls. I don't know what the heck is going on this year. mad

Wet,and cold. It's been raining almost non stop for the last 5 days, and staying about 50 degrees during the day,and it's in the 30's at night.

Its funny you guys and the fahrenheit system, when we say the 30s, that means it really hot, the weather you are describing to us would be low single figures or negatives.

The parts of Europe that have a Cbf (Koppen) climate typically should have showery days with highs of about 5-10 positive this time of the year, its stange as snow is more a February thing. Like here, our longets day (Today) was hotter than all of February it got to 30 today (When the highest in February was 28.5)

Just the mention of snow in the DC metro area sends the population into a panic! I swear, it never ceases to amaze me, and I've been living here since 1973. I'm originally from NJ, so we got a fair amount of snow, but the schools would not close until it got to about 6-8 inches of snow on the ground. Here, an inch will cause major problems. rolleyes

It's not the worst weather possible but it's highly unusual for here, it's the wettest December of my life. It is irritating, you can't build a thing with this stuff, no fun. Not that cold though possibly around the 60s, I haven't checked. Suppose to be clearer skies by Friday hopefully it'll be pretty.

You guys ended up getting it much worse that we did up North. We just got insane amounts of snow in the mountains up here. I really wanted the crazy half inch of rain an hour stuff that went South. Instead we got the inch a day storms and now it's just partly cloudy until Friday night. Still supposed to rain hard on Christmas, though. excited

It's because of snow that I missed out on the "Purple Rain" tour. It came to New Orleans on a Friday night in my senior year of high school and my mother agreed to take me and a friend of mine down there. Out of the blue, it started snowing that Friday morning. My school was the only damned school in the whole state of Mississippi that was open because the principal had driven to school that morning and said that if he was able to make it, so could the buses.

I wanted to skip school that day and all of us leave for New Orleans that morning but my mother wasn't going for that shit. When I got to school, the class rooms were so damned empty because so many people skipped school that day. It started snowing even harder and they let us go home at noon time. By that time, they had closed the interstates so there was no way to get down there.

Well, the damn snow stayed on the ground all weekend and melted Sunday afternoon just in time for us to go back to school Monday morning. Hell, it should have stayed on the ground so we could have missed some days of school. When I got to school that morning, there were soooooo many kids that weren't in school that Friday talking about the Prince concert they had attended that Friday night because they skipped school and drove down there that morning before the interstates closed. What pissed me off the most is the majority of them were white kids (white kids that I knew were racist because of the names they had called me all my life) and those bastards had never heard of Prince until "Little Red Corvette" and got to attend the concert and there I was a Prince fan since 1979 that didn't get to attend the concert. I tell ya, life just ain't fair. lol

10:27am and it's 84° F / 29° C, kinda sunny, and a little humid.

Low around Xmas in Bangkok is about 68° / 20° though in January it might get down to about 62° / 16° or 17° which FEELS really quite chilly here, but you probably don't want to hear that. lol

It's 10:35 p.m. in Toronto, 25°F (-4°C), cloudy skies, with about a centimeter or two of snow on the ground. I consider that fairly comfy regional weather for this time of year.
