I'd have to go with "The Goonies"....not that I've seen either of them, but I know that the Teena Marie track "14k" is on soundtrack!

If it breaks when it bends, U better not put it in!

I was a huge muppet fan, so the Dark Crystal was my all time favorite... followed by NES, Goonies, and Labyrinth... and yes Tron and Dune. lol

Me and my siblings must be one of the very few that grew up on the obscurity "Return to oz", which was Disney's stab at the 80's kid fantasy movie. It's somewhat of an obscure cult movie now as it was not a success at the time but I prefer it over "The Goonies" "Labyrinth" and "The Neverending story". It's blessed with one of the better kid actors to star in a family film too (a young Fairuza Bulk) and gasp!, for a disney film, it has no songs (ditto for other minor cult movie they did "The Black Cauldron"). It was also directed by film editing legend Walter Murch.

At least Disney bothered to put "Return to oz" on VHS at the time (mid 80's), as their other big bomb "The Black Cauldron", which was one of a spate of sword and sorcery kids films of that time, didn't get a VHS release until the late 90's.

I just looked and apparantly theres a proper and recent hour long documentary about "Return to oz" LOL. I need to find that....

Wow, they really hated "Return to oz" LOL. They barely mentioned why they hated it though, but anyway yes it is abit dark (particually the first half hour), but I still stand by it lol

I go with Goonies. The characters are more lovable. The boy on the dog is pretty forgettable lol

Me and my kids LOVE this. It gets tons of play in our house.

The first time they watched it they were a little bit scared of parts of it, which is part of the appeal for them.

I can frighten my little girl so easily by saying 'Dorothy Gayle' the same way as Mombie (?) does. lol And they quite often role play as Dorothy and the Wheelers.

The Wheelers are enough to give me nightmares!

Ha ha! Ive never seen 'The Neverending Story' but I know all the words to this song. It's been a recent joke with my friends here in Korea. It always gets put on the juke box at our local bar for a laugh.

Hooray! LOL. Iam so glad someone else is showing this movie to kids as it's totally fogotten outside 80's movie geeks (like me) and cult movie buffs. Infact, I don't think this movie even has cult status yet. Walt Disney himself knew you had to scare kids a little in any family film to make the good vs evil story seem more "real" or whatever, and he was right.

Goonies for me! Huge fan. Then Labrynth and Dark Crystal as others have mentioned. Followed closely by The Neverending Story.

Fraggle Rock IS the shit, though.

And I'd take The Princess Bride (not exactly the same, but kind of) over all of them.

neverending story (good book, too) was my favorite, especially the bit with the childlike empress holding the last grain of fantastica , cool lyrics for the theme song

labyrinth i watched many times, actually liked david bowie's hair at the time, not sure why. fun music, i still play that dance music dance song sometimes. my favorite scene was with that old puppet bag lady woman and all the stuff . also that masquerade dance scene was pretty.

i liked the goonies, that song 'good enough' is cool

I finally watched Dark Crystal. I am not sure what to make of it. It was creative, and I liked much of it, but there was something off about it.

I felt maybe it Henson & Oz should have stuck to the effects, voices, and even writing, but that maybe someone else should have directed it.
