Dear all,
Sorry for not responding immediately to everyone in person. Of course, having my mum, sister and ten year old nephew over from Amsterdam, I have been tramping around Paris, showing the sites. My birthday itself was spent in a rainy Euro Disney. And yes, I flirted with personel shamelessly, as they must have thought my sister was my wife and my nephew my son. I like confusing people. Today is my first day online after an astounding THREE DAYS offline. I never like cold turkey. I miss you SOME, not too much, cuz that would make me basicly pathetic. But I do miss you all, as my online banter has become a big part of my boring working day and meeting friends in the process is some thing beautiful! I love all your messages. read them all, but will have to answer them when I am in Amsterdam. I'll be there from the 5th up to the 10th. I'll be rather busy. Antique hunting, catching up with dear friends and...De Trut are all on my list. And Nathan. Thanks for this sweet thread... greatly appreciated. I'll return to my belated birthday cake now. XXX

Again, thanks all for the love.
I have been in Amsterdam for two days and totally exhausted. Just one day here and I caught a cold. So lotsa sneezing. I arrived wednesday evening, went over to Joanne's. She is one of my best friends, an ex-colleague of when I worked over at the Virgin Megastore in A'dam. We had dinner, watched television (Idols, Dutch version; people following trends are SO stupid). Bit strangely it was soothing to watch; French television sucks; try watching Friends dubbed into French and you know what I mean. And NO BBC, what is up with THAT? Then went to bed early, but could not fall alseep easily; that is always hard in a strange bed. And then the cold caught up with me and I have been blowing MY NOSE ever since. And sneezing. I am drugged into a stpour, hehehe. The day after I went antiques hunting with my brother. I almost bought the following (but did not in the end); a groovy light yellow set of keramic 50's cups and saucers (95 euro, naaa), a very kewl 60's tea set in chrome and wood, with the original tray (100 euro) and some real fun 30's vases. 325 euro each. As no sugardaddy applied to my proposal thread, I have decided to pass on all items. THat evening, after putting my bro on the train to smallville, I hooked up with ANOTHER ex-colleague of Virgin; Bram. He came over to Paris in October for the Prince concerts and he had the NightTown performance and I had the Bataclan, so we swapped. And listened to Prince all evening. I really felt sorry for his girlfriend, but I guess she is used to it. Bram also gave me alot of other Prince music. Lots of extended version on cd that I only had on vynil. So now I can finally complete my Parade and Purple Rain Minidisc compilations. I missed a good version of God instrumental and the extended Anotherloverholenyohead. I guess I have to wait five days to listen to them, as I am staying with two friends (first Joanne's, then move to Angelique's) who are not into Prince at all...and after I return to Paris it will will be laundry and catching up on sleep first. And a birthday bash on tuesday with a Swedish and American friend; all Aquarians. Anyways. Tonight catching up with Kate Bush lover Martin (another ex- Virgin) and tomorrow my party! I wonder who will show up...Already have three cancelations, but that is how it goes. Ans sunday some clubbing at De Trut, my fave dancing place (if I am in the mood) after Roxy burned down... I'll be wrecked on tuesday...

Glad you're living it up and enjoying your time off. But get healthy. And get those box sets!

LoL It turned out that my 'demands' for certain pressies was ignored heavily. No box sets. but loads of other gifts. Even though I am not in it for the gifts. btw. I normally never celebrate my birthday at all. And my health? Uhm...I sound very sexy. My voice breaks, seemingly from to omany emotions, but I am having the worst cold ever.

Okay, so after that last entry. I'll finalise my Amsterdam adventures.
FRIDAY I visited Martin & Rob. Talked for hours, drank tea and then saw About Schmidt. Kind of okay. Not a must have DVD, but enjoyable just the same. Then took my huge suitcase (a man needs a certain amount of clothes...) over to Angelique's, another ex-Virgin and one of my best friends. We were both tired so we went to sleep. I kept her up all night with my cold induced snoring...poor Angel. SATURDAY Angel and I had a lovely breakfast and then we went off to Joanne's to drink champagne. She just moved into her new house (WITH GARDEN!) and we felt like celebrating. Of course, it was kind of stupid stupid to start boozing that early in the day... oh well. Off to the Wester market we went and then we just wandered a bit. Angelique and I just talked and went to little shops and had loads of fun. Then met up with Angelique's colleague Patrick at Het Paleis for dinner. I planned my little birthday bash at the same place; so all I had to do was sit back and relax. So. There was lots of drinks involved. Lots of people canceled, but lots I already saw the days before, so that was okay. Another Patrick, actually the most important Patrick in my life was there. And lots of other people (no Fhunking though...even though he promised...POUT) A small circle of friends closed the night at O'Reilly's. And Bas and I ended up dancing in an underground basement in the harbour. Now THAT was fun... Sunday was spent sleeping in. Nothing except looking forward to going to De Trut (The Bitch), a gay club night just outside the city center. It is very small, but very lovable, as it attracts a very nice section of gay culture. Normally gay life is very segregated; butch gays here, sissy gays there. Lesbian bars hardly admit men. All these cultures hardly mingle. Except at De Trut. It's all about D M S R, basicly. And the drinks are VERY cheap, that helps spirits too. I was there with Angelique and two of her friends, that got in a catfight with other lesbians upon entering the club, but what the heck. I had not been in De Trut for ages, which was noticable, as I hardly knew anyone there. Met some kewl peeps though, especially Sven, this really nice guy wearing vintage Adidas clothes and the most lovely smile of the weekend. We danced on the music, but didn't skip the romance before we moved on...what can I say? Sometimes being single is enjoyable... And then it was monday and everything was centered around going back to Paris. Did some bank business, visited another ex-colleague at his new job in a very enjoyable recordstore (BRUTUS!) and then Bram came walking in! That was a coincidence! But off we went, sitting on a bench alongside a canal, enjoying the sun, lamenting my iminent leave... And before I knew it I was on the train again. Sitting next to an irritating Dutchguy almost breaking the two lovely vases I got for my birthday by rudely depositing his suitcase on top of them...Read my magazines, started a new book, which was so enjoyable I missed the entire second part of the journey. Then went home (quarter to ten in the evening), cuddled my cats, unpacked and went to sleep. The day after was horrible. My cold is getting worse and worse and having another birthday bash the day after you get back from a funfilled week is hard too. So now it's wednesday and I am hungoverish and still battling a cold. But tonight I can go home, listen to the many cd's I got (lots of Prince thingies) and just chill. And sleep. Thanks for congratulating me! Love you all lots!
