Blue Valentine I just heard about this movie
it had a NC-17 rating
that was changed to R
the trailer looks decent
and Ryan Gosling is one of my favorite actors
and, imo, acts his fucking ass off
anybody heard of it?
is it based on a book or something?
I know I could google all that
but why when I could start a thread
Trailer:

I'm excited to see the movie. I think Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams are both very interesting and really talented actors. The movie looks a little bleak, since it's about the dissolution of a marriage, but I'm intrigued to see it. |

I hate depressing movies! Life is depressing enough.
Even worse if they're wrapping a bunch of wonderful raunchy sex in a depressing-ass movie. It's what you make it. |

I'm a little particular about what I enjoy watching at a theater vs. at home. I don't want to cry, have to concentrate to follow the plot, or have the possibility of falling asleep at the theater.
Blue Valentine is one I want to watch, but I'll definitely be putting this on my rental list. |

Indeed I am. I never have to worry about teens causing a ruckus when I'm at the cinema. |

Maybe just a slap-fight between hipsters who wore the same black shirt to the theater. It's what you make it. |

I recently started watching All Good Things, which has Ryan and Kirsten Dunst doing the bad marraige thing. Not only depressing, but slow. Great performances all around but I fell asleep before I got the payoff to the mystery at the end. Probably finish it today at some point. Looking forward to Blue Valentine, but I think it's kind of weird that the Weinstein's were able to get the rating changed by doing nothing but asking (payola?). Anyway, I read that the big deal scene for the MPAA was actually the male on female (simulated) oral. Which does seem like a bit of a double standard when there's R rated movies out there with woman on man and woman on woman doing the same thing. |

Oh no, I was in the company of many impressionable women who would have questioned my masculinity if I ordered that. They gave me the thumbs up when they saw my Heineken. |
