I had all of my kids in the bed with me until they were weaned off the breast. It never interfered with my marriage or sex life, in fact it enhanced it. My husband loved to watch me breast feed and after they were sleep we made love. They spent only 2 years in the bed with us, I had no problem getting them in their own bed.

... nevermind lol

I am guessing they had a really big bed.

i tried it once when i was frightened as a kid. my dad told me to fuck off back to my room.

My parents did not allow it. They kept their door shut and locked. We had a bathroom that had two doors, one that went to their room. If I got scared, I would go into the bathroom with my blanket and sleep proped up against the door. My dad would get pissed if I woke him up so I would say "mommy" over and over really quiet hoping she would hear me until I fell asleep. I usually only did that when we had a really bad lightening/thunder storm.

O-M-G! That is horrible. I can just picture you, a scared little girl, sitting on the floor of the bathroom leaned up against the door, sobbing from fear, and longing for Mommy's hug. sad I can see myself as being strict, but could never be so..cruel. Not to my child, or any child. If I see a kid crying at the park, I'm the first to go over and comfort them...poor thing.

Prince is GORGEOUS. I'm inspired. GOD is GREAT. Is there anything else to say? lol

My sister let her youngest sleep in their bed. The oldest was cool in his room. I think around 5 she got better at staying in her bed.

I'm trying to remember...not trying to boo hoo about my childhood, but my mom was so checked out, we kind of did our own thing. There was always a baby too. My dad however was the one to come to our rooms and comfort us. But mom? She was a crap shoot. Depended on her mood. Plus we slept in the basement. Scary. But I had my brothers. We were cool.

I think if I had kids I'd eventually want my bedroom back. Just me. Not sure if I'd like to have our child's leg poking my back or their arm slapping my face in their sleep. My niece slept pretty wild.

Yeah my daughter inevitably send up sleeping across the width of the bed. I wouldn't be able to handle that. I shift quite a bit myself. We'd end up having an unconscious wrestling match.

Another debate I guess lol I was watching a tv show and some of the parents were saying how great it was, while others were more old school. Some of the parents slept with their kids when they were babies while others went up to the ages of 5, 6, 7! eek Personally I don't think parents should allow their kids to sleep with them at night. Kids need to learn from an early age about personal space, and being able to sleep alone. I KNOW I sure as hell am glad I never slept in the same bed as my parents, especially with my daddy farting lol lol

What do the rest of y'all think? Is anyone here for it?

Mines 3 and sleeps with us at the moment... It's nit ideal but a combo of him being unwell, never sleeping more than 2hrs at a time a d a job that has me up at 5am means it's the best way for me to get sleep...as our Heakth Visitor said "do you think he'll still be doing it at 8,9,10....then what's the problem?"

Moderation, people.

EVERYTHING in moderation.

My kids always had their own crib/bed, but when they're feeling sick or scared, they're welcome to sleep w/ mommy & daddy.

My oldest (when he was about 2) would climb out of his toddler bed EVERY NIGHT and we'd wake up with him in ours. Obviously, we put an end to THAT.

My daughter has NEVER liked to sleep with us. Even as a little baby, when she got sick we'd put her in our bed, but she'd toss and turn all night until we put her back in her crib/toddler bed and then she'd be fine.

My youngest is a benafide momma's boy. He LOVES sleeping in our bed. He'd find ANY reason to cajole his way into our bed, and we'd cave in maybe 50% of the time. Then he got into the habit of climbing into bed with us every Friday!

So while we don't have a "family bed" per se, they aren't exactly forbidden from sleeping with us.

Moderation!
