How ironic that the grooming possibilities for the very beard that should be somehow butchin' me up a bit seem endless. purse

falloff @ this site (which I might start referring to as the "other" org hmmm).

falloff x 1000 @ there being "Success Stories" and "Featured Beard" sections.

I want to write a Dear Beard.org... letter but I'm afraid I'll just end up blacklisting myself within the...um...beard community.

This is where my beard is at so far:

[img:$uid]http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i9/jgascot/personal/facehair2.jpg[/img:$uid]

I had no idea that I was stepping into a whole "culture". I just wanted a new look. lol

"...the male beard commun...y things."

mm hmm. i get that, but what about the female beard? hmm

Oh nonononononononononono that is not the beard for johnart.

I won't look hipster I'll just look homeless.

I went to a graduate student (art school) party recently and it seemed like 75% of the guys had full on beards that were BIG. It's a funny trend. I started to grow one simply for the fact that I'm about to encounter snow and cold for the first time in my life and thought crazy hair would match, but I chickened out from the truly homeless look and shaved...

I don't blame you. lol

And yes I've noticed these big mountain man chic beards are all over the place. It works for a few dudes, I guess but its few and far between I think.

I'm telling you I'm so tempted to come up with some amazing and inspiring beard story for submission but I'm afraid to walk out the door one morning and find 20 beard.org dudes waiting to kick my ass.

I can't stop looking through the site.

From Success Stories

How did the "all about beards" site influence your decision to grow a beard?

My attempts at growing a beard had always been unsuccessful. I would invariably cease to shave when on vacation. After a week, and sometimes a drastic haircut, I was really pleased with my new look. But I couldn t even imagine going back to work unshaven. Seeing all these bearded guys on the site with their different looks, styles, and ages first made me feel frustrated. Then it really helped me start a real motivation. I had to be a part of it, too.

cry

How do you like being a full-bearded man?

I like my face with a full beard. I'm just amazed that what was only yesterday a dream, is now plain reality. It seems that all my previous inhibitions have suddenly vanished. I've not trimmed my beard for a while, but I won't let it grow much more, though. Being kind of tall and lean, I might end up looking like some kind of gaunt, quixotic character, which is really not what I want. My face looks fuller, more mature. It makes me look older, but I couldn t care less. They say that clothes don't make the man. It's true that appearances may be deceiving, but at one point, you have to choose who you are. A beard might look just like a facial ornament, but it also represents the manly values you stand for such as courage, honesty, straighforwardness... In the end, it might really help you change into somebody else, a better person, in any case the person you'd like to be. Do I look sexier now? I think I am in some ways, but I am not really the one to answer this question. So here I stand, somewhat elated, with my feet on the ground (so it seems) and my head in the sky, my beard being my new center of gravity.

Are you serious or pulling my leg? Either way, I have no doubt they are. And I think it's cool that there is info out there. I found it because I was googling questions on how to trim properly. That stuff that is completely new to me. When I read about washing your beard with mild shampoo and conditioning I was like wtf confused , I never even thought about that, but makes sense I suppose.

The whole intensity of the love of beard or beard as lifestyle thing is still a little humorous to me. Endearing for sure, but still a little funny. boxed
