The cops here in Wisconsin have always been super cool, professional, and very human. I have nothing but respect for them. Just people doing their job and probably dealing with a lot of idiotic bullshit every day.

I actually just wrote something about that during a conference for my Intro to Criminal Law class. The Wisconsin cops have always been respectful and approachable. I don't get that same feeling here in MD yet. Actually I didn't mind the cops in Boston either but I was young at the time. I just thought it was cool that they'd sponsor a block party in my quaint little brick apartment complex every summer.

A lot of cops aren't in the force for the right reasons.

I knew a dope fiend loser that shared a house with the master's dope fiend loser friend, and I can't believe that guy was a cop.

I am as straight laced as you can get and have very little interaction with police...but I can't help it. I just don't trust them.

Unfortunately here in California, the cops have been turned into glorified collection agents who stalk the populace so they can help generate money for the state. Instead of dealing with hardcore criminals and crime, they'll sit at corners and wait for someone to walk against the light so they can run up and ticket them for the few hundred dollar fine that the court will collect not out of any justice but pure unadulterated BS.

confused Really. Do you honestly believe that that is all the police and sheriffs do here in California?

You can blindly kiss their asses and shove your tongue where the sun don't shine. I'll save that for my dates lol

And yes, cops are BORED in this state. I take transit so I see many scenarios of unnecessary BS.

Um, my family has needed protection from those exact types and the cops have NEVER EVER HELPED US IN 20 YEARS of dealing with a certain piece of shit I mentioned earlier. Cops can fuck off. They have a whole lot of redemption to make up for in my mind.

What the fuck are you talking about? And what does that have to do with the conversation at hand? I certainly never mentioned any such thing. If you acted like this when asking a cop for help I'm not the least bit surprised that they didn't help you. Get it?! You're an idiot. Moving on ------->

I've not read a single response on this thread (will eventually go back and do so boxed) but whenever I've been pulled over I've immediately gone into a near panic. lol

Cops don't make me nervous under any other circumstance.

I've heard Adam Carolla go off many times on L.A. cops, writing "chickenshit tickets" for petty little offences.

I know some decent guys who are cops and I know some who after getting their badge, scare the hell outta me.

Around here, I think some of the police feel free to disrespect cuz they dont live in the neighborhoods that they are supposedly serving....they drive home to the burbs afer abusing local residents......

And seriously....locally...when a cop on foot is trying to flag me down to join the other 5 cars they have lined up for tickets, I put on my virtual blond wig. I simply turn my head and pretend not to see them and keep driving. If they want me that bad, leave the other cars on the side of the road, get in your dayum cruiser and catch up to me (I do pull over immediately for marked cruisers with blue lights).

Going to church doesn’t make you a Christian, any more than standing in a garage makes you a car.

It's like when the hippies told Don Draper he could not go outside because there were all those cops in the building and he replied "no, YOU can't go outside!" lol

Wasn't that a great line? I swear sometimes I want to boff Don Draper.

I've never had any problems with cops at all. I actually do feel safer whenever I see them in the subway. Naturally though, when I'm the only car on the road and I see a police car behind me, it's a different story.

I'm the same way. I've also been pulled over a couple of times for tickets. Every time I see a cop now, I get paranoid. lol I look down at my speedometer to make sure that I'm not speeding. Slowing down while driving has definitely helped. I have not received a speeding ticket in the last 5 years. I pay very close attention to the speed limit signs, and obey them. I figure I don't want to give any more money to the city where I get the ticket. lol The city gets enough money already.

Interesting perspective

Our oldest son is a K9 officer and an amazing person / officer

I can understand people's blanket statements though ...

That's great that your son is a police officer. It is a very dangerous job, one that I certainly could not do. It's great that there are people like that who put their own lives on the line to protect others. And he gets to travel around with a cute German Shepard in his cruiser, which is definitely a nice perk.

I'm glad to see some of you feel the same way. We never hear to many stories about the good cops, just the bad ones. whenever I see one I immediately think he or she is a Bad Guy and they are just out to get everyone and give Bullshit tickets. I know we have to suffer to the folks that have no respect for the law, but sometimes it gets ridiculous.

I think most cops are just doing their jobs, most of the time. There are a lot that are dicks or think the end all be all. Those are the ones that I can't stand.

Anyway, to answer the question......depends on if I'm holding or not. giggle
