Pacquiao vs. Margarito

Who's watching the fight tonight?

I'll be in da house at Cowboys Stadium and right now I'm watching the 24/7 series to get amped. I'm concerned about Manny's lack of focus during training cuz Margarito was a fucking BEAST! That body was right!

Who are you rooting for?

24/7 does a good job of making a fight seem competive even though, in reality, it isn't.

I think Pacquaio has this. He will just be too quick for Margarito. After Margarito was found cheating, his performances have been lackluster. I don't think Margarito really deserves this fight. It will be interesting to see how Pacquaio deals with the size difference.

I'd love to watch it but I don't think the Mrs. will be too happy. sad She's been out of town all week and watching boxing on her first night home probably isn't on the list. But have fun!

Cowboys Stadium is incredible.

Margacheato's gonna have to absorb alot of punches in those early rounds to really take advantage of his size over Pacman, he's also gonna have to really focus on Pacman's body early if he hopes to do any damage.

I'm rooting for Pacman BTW, I want that mega fight with him and Mayweather to happen

The politics of boxing are crazy! He should be nowhere near Pacman but when your promoter wants to keep all the money in house this is what happens.

Folks are coming over to our house for the fight tonight. Hubby's making shrimp etouffee.

Good fight. Good friends. Good food. Great night.

As for the fight, it's more my hubby's thing.

I'm tempted to treat myself to this fight, but I am cursed with boxing. Every fight I watch, the main event ends rather quickly.

Wow, did you see the weigh-in? Margarito's at 150, but Manny is at 144.6. They say Margarito could put on 10 - 15 pounds today as he rehydrates, and Manny might be outweighed by as much as 15 pounds when the bell rings.

But then again, Manny has never weighed in at more than 145 so I bet he'll be OK.

nod Yeah, I caught that. Plus Manny didn't bulk up to his typical weight leading into the fight. I loves me some Manny but it looks like he veered away from too much of his training routine. All that shit could add up. I hope not but it could. confused

http://sports.yahoo.com/b...-margarito

Pacquiao, who began fighting at 107 pounds, plans to enter the ring at his heaviest ever to take on the rugged Margarito, who is attempting to rebound from a hand-wrapping scandal that almost cost him his career. But Pacquiao will still be the much smaller fighter, giving up both weight and height in a fight that is for a 154-pound title even though the contract weight is 150 pounds.

Margarito weighed in at the 150-pound limit Friday, while Pacquiao was a surprisingly light 144.6.

That doesn’t concern Roach, who believes Margarito’s style is perfect for his fighter.

“Margarito’s defense is terrible, and he can’t throw a straight punch,” Roach said. “Manny will be down the middle all night. We’ve got a great, great game plan for him.”

Pacquiao (51-3-2, 38 knockouts) is guaranteed $15 million, his biggest payday ever, and could make up to $25 million if the fight sells as well on television ($55, HBO PPV) as promoters expect. A crowd of more than 50,000 is expected at Cowboys Stadium, where Pacquiao already has as many wins as the Dallas Cowboys this year. (they know they wrong for that evillol )

While Pacquiao is the star, Margarito has done his share to sell the fight. If his notoriety as a disgraced fighter who remains banned from boxing in California and Nevada for trying to fight Shane Mosley with hard inserts under his hand wraps wasn’t enough, he fueled the flames this week in a video mocking Roach, who suffers from Parkinson’s disease.

Margarito (38-6-1, 27 knockouts) apologized for the video but he has made no apologies for the hand wraps, saying the inserts were put there by his former trainer and he had no idea they were there. Margarito went on to lose the fight to Mosley and has only a lackluster win over Roberto Garcia since then, but is a big enough name that he got the fight with Pacquiao anyway.

Now that he has it, Margarito intends to make the most of the opportunity of a lifetime. He is guaranteed $3 million, but could make $6 million if television sales are good.

A Pacquiao win would keep alive the dream matchup of most boxing fans, a fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr. But Mayweather has twice backed away from fighting Pacquiao and is facing felony charges that could put him in prison for up to 34 years stemming from an incident in Las Vegas in which he allegedly hit his former girlfriend and threatened to beat their two children.

If that fight doesn’t happen soon, it likely won’t happen at all. Pacquiao turns 32 next month and doesn’t plan to fight much longer, preferring to concentrate on a political career that got off to a rousing start when he was elected to the Filipino congress shortly after his last fight with Joshua Clottey.

“If that fight happens, it happens,” Pacquiao said of Mayweather. “He needs me. I don’t need him.”

Controversy over weight loss drug

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Controversy erupted Saturday night before Manny Pacquiao and Antonio Margarito even got in the ring.

A weight loss supplement was seen in Margarito's dressing room before the fight, and Pacquiao's team demanded that he be tested before the fight for possible banned substances. Texas officials, though, said the testing would be done after the fight as usual.

The weight loss supplement was reportedly Hydroxycut, sold over the counter.

Margarito struggled to lose the last few pounds this week to make the 150-pound contract weight for the fight.

Margarito was knocked out on his feet in the eleventh. Pacman let him make it, the last seconds of the round. He laid off big in the twelfth..

Will we ever see the Mayweather VS Pacquiao fight?

Damn, Manny is a class fighter.

Even though he's good, he's humble as hell.

I think he was letting off Margarito in the last few rounds... He looks concerned about him. What can I say, he's such a nice dude. He really makes his fight worth to watch.

I think the only way anyone gets Mayweather in the ring with Manny is if Floyd is continually hit with statements like "Hey, we don't blame you for not wanting to fight that guy".

I mean, dang - Mayweather's got to have some pride, huh? Meh, maybe not.

I'm no Floyd lover, but trying to hit Mayweather is leagues beyond Margarito offering up his face for sacrifice.
