And I do love going to stores and shopping. Just not on Black Friday. Stampeding freugal crowds are just recipe for me to need bail money. neutral

Now see... I only go to the mall to buy those fresh baked cookies and the large pretzels and the fresh flowers, and Godiva goodies to sample and buy.... I might stop for a movie and some chowder at Legals.

Otherwise... the mall is worthless... and shit... I'm too old and fat to wear underwear for over two hours at a time... I need to be in my lounge wear chilling with a laptop and a glass of moscato.

I demand comfort while Christmas shopping! hmph!

Did you know that Target is having a massive online sale now? Oh and Best buy too!

After working the last Black Friday of Circuit City's existence, I find the entire "holiday" to be a disgusting display of consumerism. The deals weren't even that great, but people were plowing through the store with such a sense of urgency and rudeness as if we were giving away free laptops.

I'm all for a good deal, but being a nerd and former electronics associate, I also know the best deals aren't always on Black Friday or even in-store. I understand that it's a tradition for some though.

Kinda strange, kinda awesome.

I've never been a Thanksgiving weekend shopper. Working in retail when I was in college and in a mail-order call center later completely cured me of any urges of that type. lol

I can't tolerate the malls on any given weekend let alone Black Friday. I haven't done that in at least 10 years. What I miss about it is the tradition my family had. Both my brother and I live in Maryland and do not have families of our own (neither of us married). Every Thanksgiving we would drive to NJ to the family home where Mom still lived (parents divorced). Dad lived a few miles away but would drive to the house to spend the weekend with us. It was like being a family again under one roof. Black Friday was the day we would all go to the mall and just walk around and look at the sites. Since Daddy died and Mom is not as spry, we have discontinued that tradition. sad

Fortunately for me, Black Friday for the most part is a day for me to observe other people acting like idiots, but when I was in college I worked at at plant nursery and hobby store, and I missed a few Thanksgiving holidays with my family because I had to work on Black Friday and that whole weekend. I didn't see the absolute lunacy you see at Walmart, Besy Buy, and the big malls, but the store I worked in was plenty busy and hectic.

I have never once gone out shopping on the Friday after Thanksgiving. Yuck! I could think of nothing worse to do.

I have lived in the UK for the past 4 Thanksgiving's so I must say that shopping that Friday has not been something I have missed about the holidays.

I am not a materialistic person so there is no deal that could persuade me to shop that day.

I do very, very little holiday shopping, and Black Friday is almost always something I try to avoid.

Black Friday is the most ridiculous shopping event ever. Why do people always act a fool at the stores on this day as if they scared whatever it is that they plan on buying marked down for .50 cents is going to be gone by the time they reach the aisle? If you can't get it, then it wasn't meant for you to buy, bottom line.

I remember the horror of the very stupid decision I made a couple of years ago to go to the Williamsburg Outlets at midnight...I ended up in traffic for 3 WHOLE hours and I was ONLY about 10 minutes from the damn place. People were parking their cars along side the road and actually WALKING to the outlets... disbelief Then when I finally got there, the stores were such a wreck that I barely bought anything. Merchandise was all on the floor and in the wrong spots like a tornado hit it and even if I wanted to buy something the lines were all the way out the door, it was the MOST RIDICULOUS mess I had ever seen in my life. Never again.

Best Buy is the biggest fraud when it comes to Black Friday. They will advertise certain things

and have a limited number per store. Sorry this old boy will be in his bed sleep on Black Friday

as i have since 2004. The same shit you see on sale on Black Friday will be on sale later just

maybe a little higher. I refuse to get trampled to save a few bucks.
