Where do we want to go for a weekend??

Ron just came home and told me that in appreciation for the wonderful job he did on a recent work project (tha's my hunny touched) the company is sending us on a weekend (flight/hotel/food paid for) to anywhere in the continental US that we want to go. woot!

And I can't turn this into a meetup either or he'll kick my ass. lol

So where do we want to go? hmmm

New Orleans. Sexiest city in the US, in my opinion.

Not to mention the fact that they have cocktails big enough to swim in.

Wow! Good job, Ron!

I'd pick someplace I'd never been before and really wanted to see (I'm shamefaced to admit that I've never seen the Grand Canyon). But I'd also be leaning heavily toward a place completely soothing and relaxing (I can attest to how lovely a week in San Diego can be).

Have fun!

Inspiration galore in NOLA, I'm tellin' ya! nod

Grand Canyon would be hard to do in just a weekend. Because if you're going to that part of Arizona, you want to go for longer - and do Sedona and Jerome, too.

Doh! I totally missed the "weekend" part. For some reason, I read "week." Scratch everything I said. It's a pain in the ass to fly cross-country for just a weekend. But New Orleans would be sweet.

Yeah, I thought the same. Would definitely rather not be in transit for most of the weekend. So cross-country would probably not be the best.

What an awesome gig Ron has!! They hiring!?! lol

My bids would be...

New Orleans (yep, SEXY is the word nod)

San Francisco (Not exactly sexy in my mind, but definitely romantic)

Boston (History and personality galore... not all good personality, but still smile )

And if you can twist Canada out of this deal, I'd recommend you consider Montréal - sexy, romantic and lots of personality, all rolled into one.

Can you go any time of year you want?

The nice thing about New Orleans is you can get a direct flight out of Baltimore (on AirTran) and you're there in 2-1/2 hours.

We definitely want to come up and do Canada. nod

I doubt for this trip, but at some point.

I'd love to do San Fran as well, but that would have us traveling cross country so we'd lose a lot of time.

Oh and hiring? Are you in education? biggrin

He's National Director of Education and Academic Affairs :takesbreaff: lol

THIS JUST IN, from Mr. Ron (who brought me a martini and read your post over my shoulder)

Apparently Montreal was their original suggestion.

But I gotta see how long it would take us to fly there, being it's just for the weekend.

Double check with Erin (who is closer and would know better than I), but if you could swing that trip right now, I'd imagine the fall foliage around -- and especially just north of -- Greater Montréal is fantastic. Also, Christmastime there is really nice.

From DCA (Reagan) direct to New Orleans seems to be between 2 1/2 to 3 hrs. Not bad.

From DCA to Montreal seems to be about 1:40 to about 2 hrs.

Not to mess with your head, but it's too bad you didn't find this out before this weekend. Halloween in New Orleans is something you'd never forget! biggrin
