From DCA (Reagan) direct to New Orleans seems to be between 2 1/2 to 3 hrs. Not bad.

From DCA to Montreal seems to be about 1:40 to about 2 hrs.

I was thinking we could do a b'way thing. I looked up if we did Women on the Verge with Patti (which I'd LOVE to do) and Little Night Music (Bernadette AND Stritch TO-gether faint [don't worry I don't expect the names to mean anything to you neutral ]...it would run almost $800 just to see 2 shows...that is fuckin RIDICULOUS disbelief sigh).

$800 for 2 ppl for 2 B'way shows (in the 'okay' seats)... sounds normal

N'awlins sounds like the best trip. Can't really think of anywhere else for a nice weekend. I feel like I 've seen so much of America and most of it is so blah. If you struck me as a more laidback person I would say that upstate Ny around Saratoga is gorgeous this time of year.

The only places I haven't been that I'm curious about is Vegas and N'Awlins.

You can always come visit me! biggrin

I will now utter the three little words that will seal New Orleans as the choice:

Listen closely...

Walk-through bar.

Vegas we've done a lot and we really do enjoy it (a few days of lounging and walking around, some slots and a couple of shows), but it's a long way to go. Upstate doesn't much call me. When I want to do TOTALLY MELLOW (which I do love) then I want a crystal clear beaches (Caribbean/Mexico/etc).

As of now it's very much a toss up between New Orleans and Montreal.

I've never stayed there, but that's a fantastic hotel. There's also Hotel Le St. James in Old Montréal, which the Rolling Stones famously booked to capacity back in the day... and apparently trashed. lol Montréal is filled with really charming boutique hotels. Also check out Angelica Blue, a B&B in in the center of downtown Montréal. I've stayed there and its really nice. With luck, you could book a room when no one else is there and the entire place would sort become you and Ron's Frenchy little weekend love shack.

You definitely wanna try the fries in duck fat if you go. nod Also the smoked meat and hand-rolled, stone oven-fired bagels from one of Montréal's Jewish areas. drool
