But I can't kill Portland for choosing Sam Bowie. It's easy to blast them in hindsight, but at the time, Portland needed a big man to deal with Magic & Kareem, and Bowie had a solid college career. Jordan wasn't the same player he was at UNC.

Sam was a hurt in college quite a bit as well.

I believe he even missed a season.

I doubted Blake Griffin, I'll admit it. I still have my doubts that he would have made the transition so easily last season. But the year off has made that a completely pointless argument. He debuted this season and yes, he is a BEAST! Dude is still a kid and he's makin' some serious veteran defenders look sad.

Interesting season so far. I expected MUCH more from the Eastern Conference. At this point it's looking like a sub .500 team (or two) could make the playoffs. I didn't expect Boston to be so strong, though. And they're playing this well while dealing with injuries. Those contract extensions and re-signings must have made a few guys really happy. Otherwise, the West is ridiculous again this season. There's going to be 9 to 11 teams fighting for the 8 spots.

As a Portland fan, I didn't think it could get any worse than last year's turmoil. Little did I know that we would lose 4 players for the season before the season was 4 weeks old. And that isn't counting Brandon Roy, whose professional career appears to be in serious jeopardy. sad

I thought Portland would this year's OKC with all the talent they have. But injuries are killing them.

Portland finished ahead of OKC last year in spite of players missing 311 games due to injuries, while OKC had a blessed season with only 2 games lost for the season to their starters.
