Where do we want to go for a weekend?? Ron just came home and told me that in appreciation for the wonderful job he did on a recent work project (tha's my hunny
And I can't turn this into a meetup either or he'll kick my ass.
So where do we want to go?

New Orleans. Sexiest city in the US, in my opinion.
Not to mention the fact that they have cocktails big enough to swim in. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Wow! Good job, Ron!
I'd pick someplace I'd never been before and really wanted to see (I'm shamefaced to admit that I've never seen the Grand Canyon). But I'd also be leaning heavily toward a place completely soothing and relaxing (I can attest to how lovely a week in San Diego can be).
Have fun! | |

I have no idea... Sorry.
But have a great time! | |

You know, we never have been there.
Don't feel bad Efan, we've never done the Grand Canyon either.

Savannah beautiful, historic, great nightlife one of a very few cities that you can carry your drinks outside of a bar/club not so big that it's overwhelming Savannah College of Art & Design lots of artsy fartsy types great weather
How is it you feel? | |

Inspiration galore in NOLA, I'm tellin' ya!
Grand Canyon would be hard to do in just a weekend. Because if you're going to that part of Arizona, you want to go for longer - and do Sedona and Jerome, too. [Edited 10/29/10 12:27pm] We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Doh! I totally missed the "weekend" part. For some reason, I read "week." Scratch everything I said. It's a pain in the ass to fly cross-country for just a weekend. But New Orleans would be sweet.

Salt Lake City, UT!!!
Weak beer!!!
Fry Sauce!!!
Green Jello!!!
Me!!!
Wait...
No meetups...
Nevermind!
Congrats on the job well done Ron!!! I'm firmly planted in denial

No offense, but I've been to Salt Lake once. That was enough. It's a clean city.
I'd only stop over to see you.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Yeah, I thought the same. Would definitely rather not be in transit for most of the weekend. So cross-country would probably not be the best.

That's exactly what Renhoek said!! S.L. UT is indeed a clean city!! I'm firmly planted in denial

What an awesome gig Ron has!! They hiring!?!
My bids would be...
New Orleans (yep, SEXY is the word San Francisco (Not exactly sexy in my mind, but definitely romantic) Boston (History and personality galore... not all good personality, but still
And if you can twist Canada out of this deal, I'd recommend you consider Montréal - sexy, romantic and lots of personality, all rolled into one.
Can you go any time of year you want? [Edited 10/29/10 13:45pm] Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

The nice thing about New Orleans is you can get a direct flight out of Baltimore (on AirTran) and you're there in 2-1/2 hours. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

We definitely want to come up and do Canada. I doubt for this trip, but at some point.
I'd love to do San Fran as well, but that would have us traveling cross country so we'd lose a lot of time.
Oh and hiring? Are you in education? He's National Director of Education and Academic Affairs :takesbreaff: [Edited 10/29/10 13:27pm]

How do you think I know, dingdong? We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

I expect Positivity to look it up real quick. You took me by surprise is all.

THIS JUST IN, from Mr. Ron (who brought me a
Apparently Montreal was their original suggestion. But I gotta see how long it would take us to fly there, being it's just for the weekend.

Double check with Erin (who is closer and would know better than I), but if you could swing that trip right now, I'd imagine the fall foliage around -- and especially just north of -- Greater Montréal is fantastic. Also, Christmastime there is really nice. [Edited 10/29/10 13:41pm] Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

Not for the entire education world...just for his school. I don't remember if y'all chatted about his work. They have campuses in VA, NJ, Philly, FL.

Then he'd be the Education Czar. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

I figured I was being kinda broad there.

From DCA (Reagan) direct to New Orleans seems to be between 2 1/2 to 3 hrs. Not bad. From DCA to Montreal seems to be about 1:40 to about 2 hrs.
Ron's like, "Great. Now you have something new to obsess about."

Not to mess with your head, but it's too bad you didn't find this out before this weekend. Halloween in New Orleans is something you'd never forget! Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου
