Chilean miners being rescued right now

Right now the miners who were trapped in a mine 2000 feet underground for 69 days are being rescued. The first miner has been pulled out from underground.

The suspense is killing me! bawl

I'm praying so hard for all of them to get to safety but the waiting and watching is driving me bonkers hoping that nothing goes wrong.

I will probably tune in again when a few of them have surfaced.

The first guy they just pulled out was able to walk out of the rescue capsule without any major issues. But they have planned this rescue for the past few days, with the first three or four miners being rescued being the healthiest ones just so they can observe their vital functions and to make sure if anything goes wrong they can lower them back down if necessary. After those first three or four miners or so are rescued, they will begin evacuating the miners with the most serious health issues and go on with the least ill miners up until the last miner, who is the foreman on duty.

Some of them have chronic pre-existing conditions like high blood pressure, pulmonary issues, etc., many of which have been exacerbated by being trapped underground for nearly 2 and 1/2 months. Because of that, some of them are at risk for kidney failure.

As mining mishaps go, this is an extraordinarily good ending. But I do hope provisions are made for these men to get psychological treatment (among other things) beyond the planned 6 months, as needed. Even the rescue is traumatizing: The ride up is about 25 minutes long all alone in a claustrophobic, spinning sleeve. shake

I'm sorry, you guys. Did they really bring vuvuzelas or whatever the fuck to that event? Like, really? If my dad just came out of a hole and you blow a fucking vuvuzela near my head, I will make sure you blow it with your ass from then on. John Coltranus.

Very heartwarming. I just hope their wives are ready for their private "homecoming party". It's been 69 freakin days!

After a nice, hot bath... Not a shower. 69 days required some soaking. nod

I've been following this all day and cannot watch much if it at any given time for getting choked up touched

Just as I could not imagine the horror of being trapped down there, I cannot imagine the emotions of actually making it out of there alive.

One of the things that just blow my mind about this is how they had people GO DOWN INTO THE MINE to help the miners get out. (If I read correctly)

I'm just so happy for their rescue. What a blessing! I pray they recover from this and go on to live happy, healthy lives.
