Brett Favre?

Peeps had a whole lot to say about Tiger, Steve, Mel, etc. Was there a thread about Brett or is he off limits?

Did he or didn't he?

http://content.usatoday.c...=obnetwork

Minnesota Vikings QB Brett Favre said Sunday he is willing to talk to commissioner Roger Goodell about allegations that he acted inappropriately to female employees of the New York Jets when he played for the team in 2008.

Favre talked with a production meeting for ESPN's Monday Night Football about the NFL's investigation into his actions.

Deadspin reported last week that Favre is suspected of sending inappropriate messages and photos to former Jets game day host Jenn Sterger, and the NFL launched a subsequent probe.

Asked if the Deadspin report had merit, Favre told ESPN, "That will take its course."

On Thursday, Favre declined to discuss the issue during his weekly news conference. He told ESPN on Sunday that he and his agent have not been asked about the investigation yet by the NFL.

"My main focus is the New York Jets, they are a tough team; as good as they are that has been my focus," Favre said. "I hate in any way if this has been a distraction as I said Thursday -- we are here focused on trying to beat the Jets."

Goodell said Sunday that the league is looking for "facts" in its investigation. Deadspin and the New York Post also reported that Favre made inappropriate advances to two massage therapists who worked for the Jets.

If it finds fault on Favre's part, Goodell could discipline him under the league's personal-conduct policy.

Favre, who turned 41 on Sunday, indicated in August that this would be his last NFL season. -- Sean Leahy )

I think it's just a given that Favre has been, is, and will forever be an asshole, so there's just no point discussing it.....

What? Says who? And when? He's one of the all-time nice guys as far as everything I've ever heard/read. Because of that and his relationship with his wife I find this whole alleged situation to be extremely disappointing. Plus, dude is older than dirt and should know better. It's OK to act like an adult, even in a locker room.

I could be biased being as I used to reside in MN, but just about everything I've ever heard about Favre is that he's basically a douche, and his wife wanted to divorce him years ago for cheating and called him out for not being a romantic guy...hmmm

In locker room terms. lol I'm definitely not refuting anything you're saying. I'm just genuinely surprised. Favre is EXTREMELY well respected by other football players, athletes and about 90% of all sports journalists. I've rarely heard a bad thing said about him from anyone other than people who are pissed off he beat their team. lol

this story was "broken" by Deadspin . com, and they have voicemail and pics of Brett's wenis *NSFW*.

Brett.... I think he's been going through some shit. That, or his "style" has gotten him laid many times in the past, and it just wasn't working this time. I know a lot of guys who have little game other than they are the Big Fish in the Little Pond and they expect girls to get wet over the fact that they are even talking. Granted, for a while, Brett was the big fish in a pretty big fookin pond!

Ohhhh...I think we know what the difference between Tiger and Brett Favre is. Don't we?

Yeah, if you listen to the Favre dick-suckers on ESPN. He's the media(and fan) golden-boy.

And all the players he's played with. lol I'm thinkin' some of y'all are just haters, and that's cool. Being a sports fan is like that. But in this day and age if Favre was one of the hated ones we'd hear/read/see about it all the time and I can't recall any kind of mess ever being talked about the guy. Again, I could just be unaware, maybe there was an incident here and there. But I don't think he's generally been considered a bad guy.

Favre is a creep, but like Jordan, the media plays favorites. You think those nut-huggers at ESPN would ever say anything negative about the guy? Please.

They say her response was "I don't do old and married"...lol

But all of this coming out when her maxim photo shoot is coming out makes it suspect...

But Brett is probably wishing he was back on the farm right about now...lol

Well lets differentiate between football and personal life. Honestly, they say negative things about him a football context on a near daily basis. But as far as being a person, or how he lives his personal life, I certainly don't remember ever hearing that he was a creep, or an asshole. shrug

Today, the blonde woman on Sports Nation (I don't actually know her name) made the point that this isn't even really a story. That it happened two years ago and nobody had ever heard a word about it before now. That she was on the road with the NBA for three years and this kind of thing happens all the time. eek And then she asked where this is going, what's the ending? I think she was basically pointing out exactly what you just did. I totally agree with you about Favre, though. This season is not exactly going well. lol

C'mon, you two know better than that. Or at least you should.

The Favre story has just now picked up steam because it was broken by deadspin.com, which is well-known as a bottom-feeder site. It has 90% less credibility and about 10,000,000 less readers than the Enquirer, which broke the Tiger Woods story.

But then the NFL said they'd investigate and presto! The story has credibility. I guess y'all missed the morning news shows yesterday. I saw Fox News and ABC both lead with it at the 7:30 AM segment. ABC did 10 minutes on it, Fox did about 5.

According to Deadspin, there are two other women Favre texted inappropriately (but did not send pics of his junk). As with the Woods story, these girls say they saved the texts. They have not released them but if they do, this story will not suffer for lack of interest among all major news outlets.

I'm sick of people playing the race card at the drop of a hat. Especially the implied race card.

Man up, for goodness sakes.

I'm sure they feel sick as hell. My point here is that from where I sit, there's no race card involved vis. a vie. Farve/Woods. Genesia implied that Favre is getting off easy because he's white, whereas Tiger became a national joke because he is black.

I say BS. Farve isn't getting off easy at all. This story has been all over the national news the last two days. He's getting asked about it at every press conference. You can bet he'll have his share of magazine articles and covers. And all this is before the NFL renders its verdict. Just wait untl they call Favre a degenerate.

Don't forget Favre had no sex with this chick. Tiger Woods boinked at least 14 or 15 different skanks that we know about, with a sex tape allegedly about to be released. Woods also had a much higher profile than Favre. That's not to say Favre was a nobody, but he ranked well below Tiger Woods in any Q rating you can find. Woods' story is much, MUCH more salacious than Favre's if for no other reason that it involves actual sex.

I know you're not playing the race card here, and these comments are directed more at those who are. But anyone that thinks that the story of the most visible athlete in America (if not the world) having porn-quality sex with porn stars and skanks was played up because he's black is off their rocker.

Oh, so there was no meaning to your answering the question of, what is the difference between Woods and Farve by answering "their race"?

OK, got it. Sorry to have misinterpreted your answer.
