School System......

Im not sure if this belongs in politics or general discussion but anyway.....

On the average, the student teacher ratio is anywhere from 1:16 - 1:30 +. I also hear of many school systems around the country that are looking for teachers....

One solution: I remember having teacher aides in my classrooms. They helped with discipline, cirriculum and instruction. It would be sorta like a substitute in every classroom..just a thought.

In our area all elementary school class rooms have 2 teachers and around 25 students

thats ideal Mach, but when you have a disparity of children learning vs discipline probs to the point where the teacher are going off on the (grown azz) children...shouldnt there be a balance??

Im not saying every teacher should have a roommate, no. but how about providing balance, esp in places where teaching has been difficult...??? and really, its the children that need the balance, esp if they are capabel of taking over a classroom to the point where the story makes CNN....shrug im jus sayin...neutral

but yeah, congressmen are pretty amicable about those sorta subjext i guess...lurking

My 4 kids have attended private school their whole lives. The ratio right now is 1:10 in their school. I am as poor as a church mouse because of the tuition costs, and have no spare time for myself (I donate every spare moment to the school to keep costs down)

But I would not have it any other way.

classroom size needs to be reduced. plain and simple.

if we spent more money on restructuring our school systems (class size, remodeling schools, evaluating teachers, updating school books etc.) rather than building more prisons we would improve our society a great deal.

hmmm I wonder what the class size is in other countries.

In my school district, they cut the budget and let all of the teachers' aides go.

There are two of us in my classes, but that is because of inclusion. I do 5 periods of American Literature: I am the Special Ed teacher and Ann (3 per.) and Beth (2 per.) are the English teachers I work with.

The Honors classes and some of the college-prep classes don't have Special Ed in-class support, so the content-area teacher is alone with up to 30 kids.
