I tried it once. My hair would break off if I kept it natural. It mats up instead of curls so I would need some type of chemical assistance just to get a comb through it. AKA Jheri curl juice. Not sexy!

Never say you need chemicals- its just not true. hmph!

Gurl, I wish I could be chemical free, really, but the only way that would happen is for me to be bald. Let me think...hair past my shoulders with chemicals....or Telly Savalas bald look hmmm Chemicals win every time!

No lye....wink

I dont think you should, the more you keep doing it, the harder it is stop. I would just let it be, since you havent done it in a while, let it all grow out.

Your natural hair is beautiful, you just gotta get used to seeing it. Im sure you havent in a while. Everyones beautiful once you get rid of the idea of "beauty", which is honestly just a racist point of view, because only the white features are considered pretty. Be the example for the rest of your girls. Nothings more pretty than when someone is smiling happly with confidence.

Think about it.

Edit: Oh lord bad spelling.

I don't do it for beauty, I do it so I can get a comb through my hair without breaking it lol. And also so I can whip mah hair back and forth at haters lol.

I'm gonna go chemical it up in just a little while. Truly....I don't think it's "unnatural" either....just a choice to make. If my hair didn't respond well then that would be one thing, but my hair loves the chemicals and actually grows and looks much healthier.

Shit I eat twinkies. What can I say? Gooooo, chemicals!

Exactly some us do not have natural curly hair. Who has time to break combs when one needs to get up and go to work. If perms work for some sister everybody should be okay and if others choose to go the natural route that is their decision. The best hair is healthy hair and if you eat any junk do not even start on the use of chemicals.

nod True, going natural ain't for everybody. I'm in the process of transitioning now and who knows what the hell I'ma be dealing with in a year when I'm ready for my grand debut.

meh....i'm a friend of the flat iron. If I put a straightener in my hair I'm afraid it will either thin out or fall out. Besides, the flat iron at 400 makes it really silky straight and I like to be able to go back to curly.

I get a relaxer about 4 times a year.

My hairdresser tells me my hair is "too good to be bad, and too bad to be good". boxed

I grew out my whole perm a while back, and I was fine until about late-July/mid-August.

All of a sudden... HUMIDITY.

I had to get that mess braided until I figured out what to do next...

I eventually broke down and relaxed it again.

Chris Rock needs to go someplace with his foolishness because I do not know anyone that spends that kind of money on their hair. He could have spoke to a lot of people who get perms and are not going broke.
