Paris Hilton will avoid jail time after being arrested last month in Las Vegas on suspicion of cocaine possession under a plea deal announced late Friday.
Under the deal, Hilton will plead guilty to two misdemeanors, serve one year probation, pay a $2,000 fine and serve 200 hours of community service.
Hilton has denied that a purse in which the cocaine was found belonged to her. But she said that other items inside, including asthma medication, credit cards and $1,300 in cash, were hers, according to a police report.
Hilton was arrested with her boyfriend, Cy Waits, who was driving the black SUV stopped by police after officers said they smelled marijuana.
A police lieutenant found 0.8 grams of cocaine in a purse Hilton was carrying. She is expected to be charged with felony drug possession by Clark County prosecutors, based on the police report.
The plea agreement, obtained by the Las Vegas Review Journal, states that: "Defendant shall stay out of trouble. Defendant agrees that an arrest for any charge, excluding minor traffic violations for which a citation is issued, shall result in the immediate termination of her probation and the execution of the suspended sentences."
The paper quoted the district attorney as saying he hoped the deal would prompt Hilton to stay out of trouble.
