Black women and relaxed hair

Alright, to my sistas!

I wanna go to DC this weekend and I'm about a week early to touch up but I know if I wait I'll be mad on Saturday because my undergrowth will be like whoa!!

Bad enough I'm getting hate about my Crocs hmph!

Should I touch up or wait?

I only get a relaxer about 4 times a year, so.... how dire is it?

I don't think it'll be bad...

Uh, the Crocs... you know my position on that. hmph! lol

I need more info. Are you a week early to four weeks, six weeks, or eight weeks of a regular touchup? Is your scalp already itchy or burning? Under normal circumstances, could you fake it with gel? biggrin

I don't really need any education regarding creamy crack. I'm just not sure what context we're discussing it in, or how it relates to this thread. lol

I´m not against relaxed hair but I find natural, curly hair sexier.

I feel the same way about a perm on non-black women´s hair...I´m not against it, but I find it unnecessary to curl up straight hair with chemicals.

I tried it once. My hair would break off if I kept it natural. It mats up instead of curls so I would need some type of chemical assistance just to get a comb through it. AKA Jheri curl juice. Not sexy!

My friend does that. She turned her straight hair into a near Afro. It's amazing actually what chemicals can do to one's hair. Unfortunately her hair looks better than it feels. I told her all she had to do was take her wet hair, tightly braid it then sit under the drier for a couple hours.... afterwards comb it and tease it but she wanted this look permanently. shrug
