Well...which one do you drive and/or which one do you prefer?

I currently drive an automatic, but I love driving a stick shift...it's more fun and gives me more control of the vehicle. The only reason why I didn't get my car in a stick previously is because my model car wasn't made with a manual transmission option at the time. But my next vehicle definitely will be a manual transmission...in fact I'm looking at the new Nissan Juke that is coming out next month...it's a cross sport vehicle that will come with an available six-speed transmission!!!

My Camaro is automatic.

I've never learned to drive a stick.

Do you have interest in learning how to drive one? Or you really could care less at this point?

I still do. Especially since I love sports cars.

I actually wanted to before I got this last car, but my need for a car outweighed my time to learn.

Oh I can definitely understand that. Is there anyone you know that can teach you how to drive it? I learned about 8 years ago...my grandfather taught me. I haven't touched a manual transmission in a few years and fear that i've lost my touch, but they that once you learn how to drive it, you never forget.

Manual, because it's fun (except in stop and go traffic).

I don't think i'd like to drive an automatic all the time... I'd get bored. I like to be in control of some gears and race around a bit now and again.

On the occasions of driving automatic cars, I felt that it was quite.... relaxing.

My Dad can teach me.

Auto now, always has been manual before. I do a lot of motorway miles these days.

I drive auto, but I had a stickshift and loved it. When I got my new car I didn't like the clutch placement, and the model had everything I wanted. It also has that fake manual thing, which I hardly use, but did come in handy when my brakes almost went out. Yeah that's on my car now..I barely use because I don't see the point. It's not a real manual without the clutch involved. At least, that's how I feel about it.

Manual! I prefer to drive a manual transmission. My previous vehicle was an automatic and I hated it....ugh.

My car is a automatic , but I know how to drive stick.. had on a few years ago... My dad taught me when I was 16, in a cornfield, in a powder blue baja bug!

But I prefer automatic... especially living in the city..

Manual... I love it too because it "feels" more like driving... you can rev the engine, chirp the tires, engine brake on the downshift... it makes driving more of a sport rather than just a thing you do...

Drive both. Prefer manual.

I'm glad I can drive stick, and I want my kids to learn too.

But automatic's just way less of a pain in the ass.

Automatic. Why I gotta do everything? Let the damn car shift itself.

all our kids had to learn both (our expectation ) they were also expected to learn to change a tire BEFORE allowed to get their permits

Both have their pros and cons and I don't fave one over the other

Automatic. But I remember a loooong time ago, a guy I was dating was trying to teach me how to drive manual. But it didn't go too far, because I didn't like it.

Manuals are too much work. It's hard enough to steer, smoke, drink coffee, and talk on the cell phone all at the same time, now I have to worry about shifting every 5 friggin' seconds too? Too risky. I might spill the coffee.

Actually...now that I think about it...my car has both manual and automatic options on it. No clutch...but I can shift manually, if I want to. Comes in handy when it snows, since I can downshift on hills.
