I couldn't wait to go home at lunch today cuz my BF worked his forst night of night shift last night, so we didn't get to see eachother, and I had all these plans to go crawl in bed with him for an hour.

So at 1030 my boss told me where all she was running and then she was coming back, which in my estimation woulda been a little after 12 then I was gonna leave.

Well 12 came and went and shes still not here. I decided to wait for her cuz she doesnt have a key to get in.

.........to her own business.

Anyway, now its 136. I could have came and gone and she still wouldnt of been here.

Now I can't go home for my nooner at all.

This kind of shit happens all the time and I don't even get paid for this hour.

Not to mention now I won't get to eat all day!!!!!

Sometimes being nice totally doesn't pay.

Missing a nooner goes above & beyond the call of duty.

I understand your disappointment - but grow up.

Why won't you get paid for that hour? If she comes back late, then take your lunch break late.

I work for one now, and it's my first time working for a woman. She pulls that mess with her keys, too. I know it's a ploy to keep me sitting here waiting on her, but I'm gonna nip that mess in the bud. I tell her I have to leave promptly at 5:00pm for an appointment. Yesterday she pulled a fast one, too. I'm all packed up and ready to walk out the door and in walks this woman who said she was meeting the dean so they could ride together to a meeting dowtown. Just as I'm trying to walk out the door, my boss called me back to ask me to call a cab for them. Mind you, it's 5:10 pm by now and they're supposed to be at the meeting by 5:30. Five minutes later she comes back and says, "Oh, that's alright. We can walk up the street and hail a cab. THAT'S WHAT YOU SHOULD HAVE DONE IN THE FIRST PLACE!

Yup Yup Yup. Same situation basically. I HAVE to get my kids from daycare by 5:30 NO LATER, and she'll waltz in at 5 to 5 and ask me to do stuff.

And I actually love my boss to death. She's more than a boss and has been there for me numerous times when I've needed her.

Just needed to rant about her punctuality issues.

I'm sure if I pushed the issue I could of. She wouldn't of said no, but she'd be irritated. When she finally shows up she has piles of work for me to do. No time for lunch. I mean, theres time, but she needs me here. Okay, she's old and doesnt know how to check a damn email. I gotta be here to do everything for her.

I have no idea what kind of work you do, but if you're working a full day in the United States, getting time to have lunch is not pushing the issue.

Anyways, EFAN, this is basically what my BF says, he's always getting mad I make plans w him for lunch and end up backing out a lot of the times, because there are deals going thru and its a hectic day at the office.

What my boss tends to forget is I'm not a real estate agent. I am a paid employee who works in the office, I'm not self employed like the realtors. So when a big deal is crumbling and its the weekend and someone needs to quick run to the office its usually me. Like I said, she forgets, I'm not getting paid for this. I love her dearly, I just get irritated sometimes. Trust me there are more than a few times where I should be the one getting the commission check.

you should sit down and discuss this calmy with her. depending on how you are paid, (salaried employee, or indendent contractor) your state laws may mandate a 15 minute break, and half hour break for a meal. it's all about communication Dani, and right now all you have is resentment because you aren't articulating your feelings to her. In addition, show initiative. Tell her you are going to have a duplicate key made for her, such that you are able to leave the office in case of an emergency (especially now that you are pregnant) and that you will be reimbursed for having the key made

You're pregnant. She's right. Bring some damn food to work. Some HEALTHY food.
